A-League Semi Finals (2nd Leg) Expert Tips & Predictions

The top two sides in the regular A-League table prevailed in the opening legs of the 2024/25 semi-finals but both will want to secure the job at home.

Melbourne City may have wound up 2nd in the regular league table but perhaps now look best placed to go all the way, following their resounding win at Western United last weekend and they have a healthy 3-0 advantage ahead of the second leg.

League leaders shield winners Auckland FC meanwhile dug deep to pick up a tight 1-0 win at Melbourne Victory and they will want to cash in on that advantage in front of their home fans.

It is all to play for here, with the two sides that progress heading to the Grand Final and it promises to be another bumper weekend of A-League action.

Here are our A-League tips for the semi-final, 2nd legs:

A-League Semi Finals 2nd Leg Predictions

Melbourne City vs Western United

Betting Tip: Melbourne City to win the match @ $1.80

Melbourne City ($1.80)

Western United ($4.20)

Draw ($4.20)

While Melbourne City may have fancied their chances heading into their meeting with Western United last week, few could have foreseen the dominance enjoyed by City in the first leg. Unlike other seasons, Melbourne City have got themselves into the groove at the key stage of the season and with potentially just two games to play to become A-League champions, they look to have all the momentum with them. Losing 3-0 in the first leg will be tough for Western United to swallow, a side with plenty of quality in their ranks and writing them off completely doesn’t feel wise, especially if they manage to score an early goal. However, with Western United having to chase the game from the off, Melbourne City can afford to sit back and play on the break, something that tends to suit them and they should pick up another win in this one and march on to the 2024/25 A-League final.

Melbourne City to win 2-1

Auckland FC vs Melbourne Victory

Betting Tip: Auckland FC to win the match @ $2.05

Auckland FC ($2.05)

Melbourne Victory ($3.30)

Draw ($3.60)

As ever when it comes to Auckland FC this season, the Kiwis have been able to pull something out of the bag when it matters most – exemplified by their superb win at Melbourne Victory in the first leg. Their advantage may only be slender, but Auckland can take the 1-0 advantage back to New Zealand with them and there should be a hostile atmosphere greeting Melbourne Victory in this one. Victory spurned a few chances in the first leg and were the underdogs going into the tie, something that has come into even sharper focus following the opening game. Expectation and pressure is on Auckland FC to land another win here, something that they have been able to withstand all season, and the Kiwis look decent value to march on to the 2024/25 A-League final.
