Following draws in both of the A-League semi-finals last weekend, the pressure ramps up again here for Auckland FC, Sydney FC, Adelaide United and the Newcastle Jets.

Home advantage will now be given to United and the Jets, by virtue of their superior regular league position but the pressure is very much on the quartet in general.

A place in the A-League grand final awaits and with so much on the line, this should be another pair of fantastic fixtures.

It felt as if last week was a big chance for Auckland FC to lay a glove on Adelaide but the draw in New Zealand certainly gives Adelaide the favourites tag here in South Australia. Moments of brilliance decide games like this, and Adelaide have plenty of big game players in their ranks, who could get them over the line.

As was the case in the other semi-final, Sydney FC weren’t quite able to cash in on home advantage last week and as a result, head to league leaders Newcastle Jets, needing a positive result to progress. Jets have been the story of the season and momentum may have faltered a touch, but they are imperious when they play their A-game. Sydney FC are well versed in big games like this and know how to get results, so shouldn’t be discarded flippantly. That said, it does feel as if the Newcastle Jets have been working towards this all season and they look ready to take their chance and reach the A-League grand final.
