Another entertaining weekend in the A-League last time out saw Sydney FC strengthen their hold on the league leaders shield with a hard fought win on the road at Newcastle Jets whilst Melbourne City lost pace with a draw at Brisbane Roar. Elsewhere, Wellington Phoenix continued their excellent form with a comfortable win over WSW, Perth Glory continued their recent resurgence with a thumping of Adelaide United whilst Central Coast Mariners picked up a famous win over Melbourne Victory.
Here are our picks for the 15th round of fixtures in the A-League:
2019/20 A-League Round 15 Preview
Adelaide United vs Melbourne Victory – Hindmarsh Stadium
Adelaide United ($2.05)
Melbourne Victory ($3.6)
Two sides in desperate need of three points kick off the A-League program on Friday as Adelaide welcome Melbourne Victory to the Hindmarsh. Adelaide will be looking to bounce back following a rotten run of form that has seen them drop to 7th place and the manner of their defeat to Perth Glory last time out will be particularly chastening for all associated with the club. Melbourne Victory meanwhile are in a very similar situation and find themselves floundering in 6th place in the A-League table. Results have picked up in recent weeks but their heart breaking 3-2 loss to Central Coast Mariners last time out will be a particularly tough one to take. Neither side will come into this one full of confidence and it could well end up honours even.

Brisbane Roar vs Wellington Phoenix – Suncorp Stadium
Brisbane Roar ($2.87)
Wellington Phoenix ($2.5)
High flying Wellington Phoenix travel to Brisbane Roar with both sides buoyant after good results last time out. Robbie Fowler’s Brisbane Roar have climbed up to 9th in the A-League table and the manner of their 2-2 draw with Melbourne City will give them a huge boost heading into this one. They have only won two of their last 7 A-League games however and they will be hoping to start stringing results together with the play-off spots not beyond their reach currently. Wellington Phoenix meanwhile are in fine form and their dismissive win over WSW last time out was testament to that. Phoenix have developed into one of the most competent sides in the division and wins in their last three games has propelled them up to 4th position in the A-League table. This should be an excellent game at the Suncorp and Wellington should come through with all three points in the bag.

Wellington Phoenix to win 2-1
Melbourne City vs Newcastle Jets – AAMI Park
Melbourne City ($1.61)
Newcastle Jets ($5.5)
Melbourne City will be looking to return to winning ways as they look to close the gap on Sydney FC as they host Newcastle Jets at AAMI Park. The sky blues sit 2nd following an impressive run but they will be keen to bounce back from their disappointing draw with Brisbane Roar last time out and their inability to keep clean sheets continues to hinder them. Newcastle Jets sit bottom of the table with 12 games played and their recent form both home and away has been a real concern. They have only acquired 9 points so far this term and their loss to Sydney FC last time out was an indicator of the work they will need to do to get out of trouble. This should be a relative walk in the park for Melbourne City in front of their home fans.
Betting tip: Melbourne City to win the match ($1.61) Bet Now
Melbourne City to win 3-1
Western United vs Central Coast Mariners – GMHBA
Western United ($1.83)
Central Coast Mariners ($4.33)
Two sides in need of three points face off at GMHBA as Western United take on Central Coast Mariners. Western United have taken well to life in the A-League and find themselves in 5th place in the table, very much in the play-off picture. Defeats in their last two games has checked their progress somewhat but they could return refreshed following a week off from the regular program. Central Coast Mariners sit 10th in the table with 3 wins in their last 7 games and consistency looks to be the key issue for them as they look to avoid the wooden spoon this season. Their incredible comeback win over Melbourne Victory last time out is sure to give them a huge boost going into this one but Western United should have too much about them here at home.
Betting tip: Western United to win the match and both teams to score ($2.75) Bet Now
Western United to win 3-1
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Perth Glory – Bankwest Stadium
Western Sydney Wanderers ($3.4)
Perth Glory ($2.15)
Perth Glory travel to WSW as they look to continue their excellent recent run of form. WSW started the season superbly but have slipped down to 8th following a poor run of form. They were beaten at home by Brisbane Roar before a particularly uninspiring loss at Wellington Phoenix last time out and they need to pick up points quickly if they are to avoid being dragged into the race to avoid the wooden spoon. Meanwhile, defending league shield winners Perth Glory are the form side in the division having won their last 5 fixtures to climb up to 3rd in the table. They thrashed Adelaide United last time out and they will be eager to hunt down the likes of Sydney FC and Melbourne City above them come the end of the campaign. WSW will trouble Perth but Glory should have way too much confidence in their play currently and three points look inevitable.
