Following a chaotic opening weekend, the new A-League season is very much up and running, with a few shock results getting the campaign going.

Both of last season’s finalists Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne City were defeated by Adelaide United and Western United respectively, whilst Melbourne Victory made light work of Sydney FC on the road.

As ever, there is plenty of football to be played and the second weekend of the season promises to be yet another enticing one.

Meanwhile, Sydney FC were disappointing in defeat against Melbourne Victory last weekend, and they will feel that they need to start putting points on the board quickly, if they are to avoid a repeat of last season.
