The final weekend of the A-League regular season is upon us and with the top six sides already decided, teams will be playing for pride in most cases this weekend. Perth Glory have secured the league leaders shield and look to have turned their attention towards winning the play-offs whilst only Adelaide United and Wellington Phoenix can change their position in the table as things stand.
Here are our picks for the 27th round of fixtures in the A-League:
Brisbane Roar vs Adelaide United – Suncorp Stadium
Brisbane Roar ($4.6)
Adelaide United ($1.55)
Robbie Fowler will take charge of his first Brisbane Roar game as they host Adelaide United. Brisbane are currently sat in 9th position in the table and have been leaking goals all season but will be looking to give the former Liverpool striker something to build on here. Adelaide find themselves in 4th place in the table following their gritty win over Melbourne Victory last time out and will be looking toward the play-offs here. Whilst Brisbane are sure to get a boost from Fowler’s arrival, Adelaide have been tough to beat all season and should get the job done on the road here.
Betting tip: Adelaide United to win the match and both teams to score ($2.65) – Bet Now
Adelaide United to win 2-1
Melbourne City vs Central Coast Mariners – AAMI Park
Melbourne City ($1.36)
Central Coast Mariners ($8.5)
6th placed Melbourne City will be looking to generate some confidence with the play-offs approaching as they host Central Coast Mariners. Melbourne City have won two of their last three but will need to respond following a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Wellington Phoenix last time out. Central Coast Mariners picked up their 3rd win of the season last time out when beating the Western Sydney Wanderers – a result they will be hoping to build on here with their thoughts sure to be on next season. This should be a routine win for Melbourne City in front of their home fans.
Betting tip: Melbourne City to win the match to nil ($2) – Bet Now
Melbourne City to win 2-0
Newcastle Jets vs Sydney FC – McDonald Jones Stadium
Newcastle Jets ($2.4)
Sydney FC ($3)
7th placed Newcastle Jets will be playing for pride as they welcome Sydney FC to the McDonald Jones Stadium. Their 6-1 win over Brisbane last time out was indicative of their improvements in recent weeks but it is too little, too late in terms of the play-off race this season. Sydney sit 2nd in the table and struck a psychological blow by beating Perth Glory last time out. They followed that up with a spirited showing in the Asian Champions League against Shanghai SIPG and look well placed to go well in the play-offs. Both sides will want to win this game and it could well end up honours even.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw and both teams to score ($4.55) – Bet Now
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Melbourne Victory – ANZ Stadium
Western Sydney Wanderers ($2.95)
Melbourne Victory ($2.65)
Melbourne Victory will be looking to generate momentum with the play-offs looming as they travel to Western Sydney Wanderers. The Wanderers are without a win in their last three games and can’t improve on their position of 8th – regardless of their result here. Inconsistency has blighted Melbourne Victory’s season – who have won two and lost two of their last 4 league games. They showed character to draw with Guangzhou in the Asian Champions League in midweek and will be hoping for a similar showing here. Melbourne Victory will want to pick up some confidence before the play-offs and should do with a win here.
Betting tip: Melbourne Victory to win the match and both teams to score ($3.45) – Bet Now
Melbourne Victory to win 3-1
Perth Glory vs Wellington Phoenix – nib Stadium
Perth Glory ($1.6)
Wellington Phoenix ($5.5)
Perth Glory will pick up their league leaders shield following their final regular season game with Wellington Phoenix. Perth Glory went down 1-0 to Sydney FC last time out but will now turn their attention to the play-offs following their impressive season thus far. Wellington Phoenix have impressed too this season, defying the pre-season relegation odds to find themselves in 5th place in the table. They will also be looking towards the play-offs in what could be a remarkable end of the season for Mark Rudan’s men. It will be party time in Perth and Glory should pick up a home win to conclude a regular season to remember.
Betting tip: Perth Glory to win the match ($1.6) – Bet Now
