The AFL continues this week for Round 20 action, kicking off with Hawthorn vs Carlton on Thursday night.
We have AFL betting tips for every game in 2025, including this week’s featured games between Gold Coast vs. Brisbane and Adelaide vs. Port Adelaide.
AFL Round 20 Tips

Thursday 24/7/25
Carlton did well to stop its losing run last week, but the Hawks have the clear class advantage in the Round 20 opener.
Hawthorn might be sitting outside of the top four, but they are one of the best teams in the competition, and they should have no problem getting past the Blues, hence why bookmakers have the Hawks at –29.5.
We’re happy to take that line as it could move to around –34.5 on game day.

Friday 25/7/25
Covering a –50.5 spread isn’t easy, but teams playing Essendon have enjoyed a lot of success in 2025.
It has been a hard watch for Essendon fans, including a big loss last week, and the Bulldogs are a team that likes to score big one-sided wins.
It will require a lot of heart and luck for Essendon to keep this close, but based on how the Bombers are performing, we can’t include them in our AFL picks.

We like what Sydney is currently doing, and it’s good enough to cause a minor upset over GWS on Friday night.
GWS comes off a good but easy win over Essendon, and although it’s playing well, the Swans are making a late run for a top eight spot.
Last year’s finalists need to beat the Giants to keep their momentum going, and getting a +8.5 line is good enough for punters to include them in AFL Round 20 picks.

Saturday 26/7/25
The all-Queensland battle should be a good game to kick off Super Saturday and we’re backing Brisbane to show why they’re the current champions.
The Lions are going along nicely in second place, and after Collingwood’s loss last week, they’re closing in on a minor premiership. A win over Gold Coast takes them closer, and punters should be confident in their chances.
Gold Coast might be the more desperate team, but class should prevail with Brisbane.

We don’t know why West Coast was favoured to beat Richmond last week, but despite not rating the Eagles, they should cover the spread against Fremantle.
The Dockers come off a one-point win over Collingwood, which was excellent, but we can’t see this team covering a –50.5 spread. We don’t think they have it in them regardless of the opposition, so take West Coast with the points.
The Eagles only need to play half-decent to keep it close.

With a top four spot on the line, we expect the Cats to score an easy win over the struggling North Melbourne Kangaroos on Saturday.
Geelong hasn’t always been the most consistent team, but it did enough to win last week, and a better showing is expected here.
Covering the –41.5 line shouldn’t be too hard against a Kangaroos team looking towards improving in 2026.

After a poor showing last week, we can’t have Port Adelaide in our AFL predictions this week.
Adelaide produced a much better performance when scoring another win, and it’s looking like a genuine AFL premiership contender, which is why the Crows are $1.18 favourites to beat their rivals.
There is too much scoring power with Adelaide for Port to keep up.

Sunday 27/7/25
After a shock loss to the Dockers last week, the Magpies seek a bounce back performance against Richmond.
The Tigers showed good fight to beat West Coast last week, but with Collingwood stinging after a rare loss, it could be a one-sided affair on Sunday.
Punters should include Collingwood –45.5 in AFL picks.

There won’t be much between St Kilda and Melbourne to end the round, but we give Melbourne the slight edge.
They are sit in 13th on the AFL ladder, compared to 15th for St Kilda, and although that’s not much, the Demons have played better footy over the last 5-10 weeks.
It’s not our most confident bet but include Melbourne in AFL multi picks.
