There has been money for Gold Coast over the last few weeks, but they’re riding an eight-game losing streak, and we don’t want to include them in our picks.

Carlton comes off consecutive losses after a mid-season resurgence, but despite those losses, they have much better form coming into this game. The losses came against Hawthorn and Collingwood, and the scoreline last week didn’t reflect how close the game was.

There isn’t much between these teams, but playing at home is a big advantage for Carlton, and they still have a chance of making the AFL finals. We don’t believe Gold Coast has much chance of making it, nor do they deserve to, so include Carlton –6.5 in AFL picks this week.

We expect the line to move to around –8.5 on game day, so it’s worth taking the early line whilst it’s available.
