It will take a brave punter to bet on Essendon following last week’s performance, and we’re not that brave.

Their win over GWS was short lived after suffering a 132-39 loss to Hawthorn last week, where they didn’t fire a shot. It was a disappointing effort, and the focus now moves to rebuilding for the 2027 campaign.

Adelaide looks to rebound after being dominated by Collingwood at home. It was a poor loss from a team that had beaten Sydney the week prior, but it could have been an ideal loss to have before the finals.

We expect them to bounce back with a big performance against Essendon, and although the -44.5 spread is tough to cover, with the way Essendon folded last week, Adelaide could put up a cricket score.

Tex Walker has eight goals from his last two games, and the rest he had when Adelaide defeated Sydney could pay off. He has a good chance of kicking 2+ goals, so include him in AFL SGM picks.

We’re including under 172.5 points. Essendon could struggle to score over 50 points, and that should be enough to secure the under. Their last meeting resulted in a whopping 261 points, but times have changed.
