Essendon is riding a 16-game losing streak in Victoria, and we expect that streak to continue against a resurgent Carlton.

The Blues had been struggling on and off the field to start the year, but after three consecutive wins, they’re back in contention for a finals spot if things keep trending in a positive direction.

After beating the Bulldogs, Power, and Cats, momentum is firmly on their side, and last week’s win against Geelong should have their confidence levels sky high. Facing the struggling Bombers isn’t as hard, and we don’t think they’ll take their foot off the gas.

The –30.5 line is slightly bigger than expected, but Essendon doesn’t have much going for it, and until they pull the trigger with signing Hird as their head coach, we want nothing to do with betting on them.

It’s often a low-scoring game between Essendon and Carlton, but this game could buck the trend. Our final score prediction has Carlton winning 107-70, so include the over.
