After opening at +18.5, money has come for Essendon to deliver the goods. They went close to beating Gold Coast outright as +44.5 underdogs last week, so confidence levels are high with the young group.

That bodes well against a Collingwood team that only just got past a struggling Carlton last week. It wasn’t their finest display and having lost to Fremantle and Brisbane in the two weeks prior, they’re not putting everything together.

It wasn’t long ago when Essendon defeated Collingwood at the MCG 92-80 in 2024. The Magpies have since beaten the Bombers, but it should be a close game between teams with plenty to prove. However, Essendon has no pressure on their shoulders, and that could be enough to cover the +17.5 spread.
