Fremantle vs. Hawthorn Predictions – AFL Round 9 2026

We have Fremantle vs. Hawthorn predictions for AFL Round 9 on Thursday, May 7 at 8:10pm at Optus Stadium.

The marquee game of the week kicks things off as Fremantle and Hawthorn battle for a top two spot.

Best Bet

Fremantle –3.5 @ $1.90

We expect a close game, but Fremantle should have enough to win and cover the spread at home.

They produced a second-half comeback to beat the Western Bulldogs last week, and although it was too close for comfort, it was another confidence building win for a Dockers team with premiership ambitions.

It’s the same case for Hawthorn, which ended its winning streak last week with a draw against Collingwood. However, considering how the game went, coming away with a draw felt like a win.

Playing at home helps, and their latest meeting was a 77-64 win to Fremantle at Optus Stadium. We expect a similar score on Thursday night, and the Dockers could score one of their best wins of the year.

Same Game Multi

Fremantle –3.5, Josh Treacy 3+ Goals, Jye Amiss 2+ Goals, Total Points Under 187.5 @ $9.00

Josh Treacy was the driving force behind Fremantle’s win last week, and we don’t see him slowing down. He kicked three goals for the second consecutive game, and the $2.35 odds to kick 3+ against Hawthorn are worth taking.

Jye Amiss had plenty of misses last week, but we have him bouncing back. He has 14 goals from his last five games, so prior to last week’s performance, he was firing on all cylinders.

Under 187.5 points is an excellent AFL SGM bet. Their last two meetings resulted in 141 and 161 points, which points towards another defensive battle. The line is much higher than expected, so include it in picks for value.

Best Value Bet

Fremantle Halftime/Fulltime @ $2.15

Fremantle has an excellent first-quarter record against Hawthorn, and it could translate into a halftime/fulltime win.

The Dockers have won the first quarter in seven of its last eight games against Hawthorn, and getting off to a fast start is important after starting slowly against the Bulldogs last week.

Punters get $2.15 odds, which are worth including as a value bet. We expect Fremantle to start well, take an early lead, and never look back.
