We have Geelong vs. Richmond predictions for AFL Round 24 on Saturday, August 22 at 7:45pm at GMHBA Stadium.

We tend to stay away from bad teams at this stage of the season, but we’re giving Richmond another chance to come through for punters.

They were soundly beaten by St Kilda last week when scoring just 45 points, but they looked good when losing narrowly to Adelaide in Round 22, and that’s our best guide for including them in AFL predictions this week.

They also played well against Geelong last year when losing 103-64. That would easily be good enough to cover the +60.5 spread, and although Geelong is humming after a string of wins, it could be a closer game than bookmakers expect.

We have the Cats winning 110-55, which is still an impressive win, but it’s enough for Richmond to cover the +60.5 number, which is one of the highest we’ve seen this season.

Tom Lynch has only one goal from his last two games, but the $1.99 odds for 2+ goals is too good to turn down. He’s the Tigers’ best chance to kick goals, and it won’t take much to score a double against Geelong.

Seth Campbell could also get involved in the scoring. He kicked three goals against Adelaide, which was a big performance, and the $1.70 odds to kick 1+ goals is a price worth including in AFL SGM picks this week.

We’re also including under 184.5 points based on our score prediction. They combined for only 167 points at the MCG last season, and it could be a similar score.

The odds are worth the risk for Geelong to win 1-39, and although it requires Richmond to turn up and play good footy, they could end the season well.

Geelong is the rightful short favourite to win outright, but they could win by around 30-39 points, and the $3.80 odds are generous for this option.

It’s a bet worth including in AFL picks purely because of the odds.
