Melbourne turned around terrible form with a 107-97 win over Fremantle last week, which most didn’t see coming. The Demons took down a genuine top eight contender, and it was mostly due to their kicking accuracy.

They scored 16.11, and if they can do something similar against Richmond, they should win comfortably and cover the –21.5 spread, which could move on game day. We expect the closing line to be around –23.5, as money should come for the home side.

It’s not easy to back Melbourne or Richmond with confidence because of their woeful records, but this game sets up nicely for Melbourne at the MCG.

We expect plenty of points in the AFL Round 7 opener, so we’re including over 178.5 points. It might seem like a high line for Melbourne and Richmond, but they scored a combined 187 points last week, so they’re starting to click offensively.

Kysaiah Pickett First Goal Scorer @ $9.75

Melbourne could hit the ground running on Thursday, and it will likely be Pickett to score the opening goal. He brings plenty of enthusiasm to Melbourne, and we like the way he puts himself in the game from the outset.

He could be rewarded with an early goal, and although it’s not an easy option to predict correctly, getting $9.75 makes it worth the risk.

Look for Pickett to get out and running, and he could kick a running goal to get things started.
