Melbourne vs. West Coast Predictions – AFL Round 9 2026

We have Melbourne vs. West Coast predictions for AFL Round 9 on Sunday, May 10 at 1:10pm at Marvel Stadium.

The Demons are firm favourites to hand West Coast another loss, with the Eagles losing their last 12 matches in Victoria.

Best Bet

Melbourne –42.5 @ $1.90

We can’t remember the last time Melbourne was –42.5 favourites, but that’s how bad West Coast is playing right now.

The Eagles showed something to start the season, but they haven’t put up much of a fight in the last few weeks, and it could be another long year for loyal fans. They were beaten by Richmond last week, which is about as bad as it gets.

They were also beaten by St Kilda by a whopping 101 points in Round 7, so we have Melbourne scoring an easy win on Sunday afternoon. The Demons come off a close loss to Sydney, which could do their confidence better than winning against an easy team.

They have recent wins over Brisbane, Gold Coast, and Richmond, so Melbourne should cruise home with a big win.

Same Game Multi

Melbourne –42.5, Jacob van Rooyen 2+ Goals, Bayley Fritsch 3+ Goals, Total Points Over 195.5 @ $8.00

Jacob van Rooyen has five goals from his last three games, including a double last week, and he’s our top pick to kick 2+ goals. The $1.45 odds aren’t huge, but they’re good enough to boost AFL SGM odds.

The odds for Bayley Fritsch to kick 3+ goals are much better. He is a $2.25 chance to get back to his best form after a few quiet weeks. Playing West Coast is a recipe for Fritsch to get his name on the scorers’ sheet a few times.

Melbourne could rack up a huge score close to 130 points, so we’re taking over 195.5 in our AFL multi bets.

Best Value Bet

Max Gawn 2+ Goals @ $2.85

Max Gawn showed up for punters last week with two goals, and he could add to his tally against West Coast.

He is no stranger to kicking goals for Melbourne, with five goals from his last five games, and he could terrorise the Eagles in the midfield.

The $2.85 odds are better than expected, in what should be a big score for Melbourne at the MCG.
