Richmond vs. Melbourne Predictions – AFL Round 7 2026

We have Richmond vs. Melbourne predictions for AFL Round 7 on Friday, April 24 at 7:40pm at the MCG.

Melbourne are firm favourites to hand Richmond another loss, in what should be a one-sided contest.

Best Bet

Melbourne –38.5 @ $1.90

We didn’t think Melbourne –38.5 would enter our AFL picks this season, but we’re happy to bet against Richmond.

The Tigers have looked awful so far, losing 130-55 to North Melbourne last week, and based on that performance, Melbourne should have far too much skill for the Richmond youngsters to handle on Friday night.

The Demons are a surprise package after posting three wins from their last four games. They defeated Carlton, Gold Coast, and Brisbane, with the win over the Lions coming by two points last week. That was a tough effort, and it bodes well for the rest of the year.

The Demons will see this as a must-win game, and it gives them a chance to score an easy win before taking on harder opponents over the next few weeks.

Same Game Multi

Melbourne –38.5, Jacob van Rooyen 3+ Goals, Bayley Fritsch 2+ Goals, Total Points Under 188.5 @ $8.50

Jacob van Rooyen got back to his best with three goals against Brisbane. It was a fine kicking performance, and we’re backing him to repeat the dose against Richmond. Punters get $2.15, which gives the AFL SGM bet a big boost.

Bayley Fritsch is a player we love including in our multis. He has had 2+ goals in three of his last four games, so the consistency is there. The $1.50 odds are on the shorter side, but he should kick 2+ goals with ease.

Richmond should struggle in the scoring department, having scored just 55 points last week. Something similar is expected, so under 188.5 points is a good multi bet addition.

Best Value Bet

Max Heath 2+ Goals @ $6.00

Melbourne has a good chance of scoring a big total, and Max Heath could enjoy some success.

He had two goals earlier this season, which paid big odds, and we’re locking in the $6 odds for Heath to kick 2+ goals this week.

If the game opens up in the second half, the 23-year-old should get into the action, and the odds are too good to pass up as an AFL value bet.
