It’s not easy to include Richmond in AFL picks, but they looked good when beating West Coast in Round 21, and they put up a good fight against Adelaide last week.

The 63-54 loss showed how good Richmond can be defensively when they put their minds to it. They are good enough to give teams like St Kilda a fright, especially given what’s on the line for the Saints, who suffer a big blow last week.

St Kilda is now on the outside looking in after losing to Carlton, but the injury to Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera could have put their season to bed. We can’t see them making the finals without their star, and Richmond could capitalise for an upset.

The +22.5 line is generous enough to include the underdogs in AFL picks. They lost by 36 points to St Kilda earlier this season, but the Saints haven’t played well since, so it should be a much closer contest at the MCG.

Jasper Alger has three 2+ goal games from his last five matches, and his form could carry over to this week. He kicked two goals against Adelaide, and if he can break down the Crows’ defence, he can score against St Kilda.

Our AFL predictions expect a high-scoring contest. They combined for 182 points in May, so include over 166.5 in picks.
