It has been a rough week for Sydney fans, which has seen North Melbourne firm into outright favouritism.

Our AFL predictions on Monday had Sydney scoring a comfortable win as firm favourites, but that was before five players were stood down for the rest of the season.

Despite some key players missing in action, including Isaac Heeney, which has all but ended Sydney’s title hopes, we think they’ll still be too good for the Kangaroos at the SCG.

There is enough depth in this team to beat North Melbourne, and although they’re unlikely to make an impact in the AFL Finals, they could come together and prove that they’re good enough to win in the short term.

It’s a big overreaction in betting markets, with Sydney still having the likes of Charlie Curnow, Tom Papley, and Logan McDonald, who can all kick goals. That’s what’s needed to cover the +7.5 spread, so look for those three to rise to the occasion.
