Adelaide looks to get back on track with a win over the Eagles, who are doing well enough to stay off the bottom of the AFL ladder.

We expected more from Adelaide last week when losing to Port Adelaide, but they should bounce back with an easy win against West Coast.

The Eagles are 0-11 in their last 11 games on a six-day turnaround, and Adelaide has played well following a loss this season, so they should fire back with a top effort as the skinny favourites.

Adelaide lost to Hawthorn narrowly in Round 11, but they responded with three consecutive wins over the Cats, Bulldogs, and Demons. They are tough games to win, and the Eagles don’t pose the same level of toughness.

The –28.5 line is in the high range, but Adelaide went 2-0 against the Eagles last year, including a 127-62 win at Adelaide Oval. It was closer at Optus Stadium in August, but West Coast hasn’t improved since then, so back Adelaide to cruise to victory.

We have backed Riley Thilthorpe a few times this year without much success, but he could explode for a big game on Friday night. He has only six goals from his last five games, which is well below expectations. It won’t last too much longer, so we’re taking the $2.35 to kick 3+ goals.

Darcy Fogarty kicked five goals against Port Adelaide, and he has seven goals in his last two games. He’s playing well, and the $1.48 odds are good enough to include in AFL SGM pics.

It should be an open contest with plenty of points. Over 172.5 points is a good multi bet addition to add value.

Adelaide needs Thilthorpe to get back to his best form, and an early goal could be the start of a big game from the forward.

He’s too good not to have a big impact on the game, and he should be desperate to get himself into the action early.
