No, it’s not a misprint; we’re backing West Coast to cover the spread against Hawthorn.

The Eagles haven’t featured too heavily in our AFL picks this year, and with good reason. However, we have them keeping it close against the Hawks, who had a 92-92 draw against Collingwood last week.

We feel as though that draw might have taken something out of them, and it can be tough for teams to mentally recover following a big game. They’ll likely take West Coast too cheaply, and it could result in a tough opening quarter.

If West Coast can keep the margin close at halftime, they’re a good chance of covering the spread. Hawthorn’s players won’t exert too much effort given what’s on the horizon, and that plays into the hands of the home side.
