Introduction to BetEasy
As of August 2018, BetEasy is once again a bookmaker in Australia following the the sale of CrownBet in February 2018, and the merger of CrownBet and William Hill.
Owned previously by James Packer and his Crown Resorts company, Canadian betting giant The Stars Group purchased 62% of the company for $150 million and it will look to push the legalisation of online poker games in Australia.
BetEasy, and it’s previous brand BetEzy, have been around in Australia since 2005. Previous Sportsbet owner, Matthew Tripp, bought BetEzy in 2014 and rebranded to BetEasy. Months later, BetEasy was bought by Crown Resorts and re-branded to CrownBet.
Prior the 2018 BetEasy re-brand, The Stars Group initially attempted to revive the ‘Sportingbet’ brand name in Australia, which was owned by the William Hill side of the business.
Sportsbet opposed this rebrand because the names are similar and the judge ruling the matter sided with Sportebet, finding that “a substantial number of bettors would be likely to be led into error, in that they would be likely to access the respondents’ platform and join and place bets with the respondents rather than with Sportsbet in error”.
BetEasy’s leading technological betting platform is what separates it from many of its competitors and Australian punters are unlikely to be deterred by its offshore ownership.
BetEasy Website Design
If you were familiar with CrownBet’s betting platform, you will be able to pick up where you left off with BetEasy as it is essentially the same design and layout with a simple re-skin.
The homepage gives you everything you would expect to see from a leading bookmaker, giving you a quick overview of next to jump races and sporting events so you place your bets quickly.
The main navigation features links to main categories including racing, sports, live betting, multi express, rewards, and promotions.
Your BetEasy bet slip is visible on the right-hand side at all times, which makes it easy to view multiple races and sporting events and keeping an eye on their slip at the same time. Adding and removing items from the bet slip is as simple as it can be and you will not experience any difficulty here.
Racing Features at BetEasy
Australian punters are spoiled for choice when it comes horse racing betting markets at BetEasy, with all major horse racing markets from around the world on offer.
Racing from Australia, New Zealand and Asia is the main focus at BetEasy, but international markets are not forgotten with the ability to place a wager on the US, Chile, and European horse races.
Sports Features at BetEasy
Futures markets for all the major sporting events around the world are also offered, such as the Super Bowl and World Cup matches.
CrownBet had always prided itself on their customer service and we don’t expect to see anything change with BetEasy.
If you don’t like to get on the phone and ask for assistance, BetEasy have an easy-to-use live chat feature and they won’t keep you waiting long (if at all).
Of course, phone and email options exist, but live chat is the quickest way to get in contact and here at GoBet, we recommend this method of contact.
Punters can reach the telephone lines from 9am to midnight (AEST) on Monday-Saturday and 8:30am to 6:30am on Sunday. However, it can run later on Sundays if specific events run later. Contact them by phone at 1800 321 323 and by email at support@BetEasy.com.au.
BetEasy offers all the usual payment methods you have become accustomed to from Australian bookmakers, including VISA, POLi, Mastercard, BPay and PayPal.
It’s easy to make a deposit and punters simply click on the amount they want to deposit, fill in the card or bank details and the funds will appear in your BetEasy account.
Withdrawing your funds is easy and a quick process. Funds are put straight back onto your card or into your bank account but offshore customers will experience processing delays.
Overall, BetEasy has a high level of potential as an Australian bookmaker and they will be putting up a strong challenge to Sportbet as Australia’s number one bookmaker. BetEasy secure user information using SSL encryption when transferring money to all major banks in Australia.
