A Brief History of BaggyBet
Several high profile figures have been involved with BaggyBet over the years. It appears the business was founded by Chris Lester, the chairperson of the Australian Bookmakers Association, in partnership with Melbourne-based bookmaker Mark Sampieri.
BaggyBet.com launched in February 2022, but BaggyBet.com.au also exists – it simply redirects to the BaggyBet.com site. The BaggyBet sports betting app followed soon after, in July 2022.
Current Ownership
At some point, racing tipster and former footy player Jack Dickens took over, with his company Mailbag Wagering Pty Ltd. But ownership of the BaggyBet.com domain transferred to BaggyBet Pty Ltd in September 2025, and the ABN of Mailbag Wagering was cancelled in June 2026.
It’s not clear to us who’s now running BaggyBet Pty Ltd (ABN 61 673 015 275) but that company is currently the registered owner.

Yes. It’s licensed by Liquor and Gaming NSW, as well as the Greyhound Welfare & Integrity Commission.
In October 2022, BaggyBet was punished for breaching the Northern Territory Code of Practice for Responsible Service of Online Gambling (2019). The company was found to have induced a high stakes punter to open a new account.
Since then, there’s been no black marks against the operator’s name, suggesting lessons have been learned.

Competitive Odds
Now for the most important bit of this BaggyBet site review – how competitive are the odds? They’re bloody good, actually, consistently taking on Australia’s biggest bookmakers.
Pick an AFL game and compare the win odds to any other site – if BaggyBet’s not the best price, it won’t be far off. These lines are priced to 105%, which matches sites like Sportsbet and TAB, and is among the lowest bookie margins in the country.
Consistently Generous
The same percentage is used for many of Australia’s favourite sports and competitions. NRL win lines are also set at 105%, producing odds that are always near the top of the market. As are most T20 and one day cricket games, plus major tennis tournaments.
Even sports like soccer are priced fairly, with margins around 107% on Champions League games, and other big leagues around the world. That’s not far behind the best soccer betting sites, such as Pointbet and Unibet, and it’s bang in line with PremiumBet and Ladbrokes.

Payouts generally take between 12 and 24 hours, but only from Monday to Friday. With no weekend processing, you could wait up to 72 hours if you time it wrong at the end of the week.

Feedback on those marketplaces commonly cites fast loading speeds, good bonuses and strong market coverage. However, a few users reported the app freezing. That’s not something we’ve encountered, and given the high average ratings, we can safely dismiss these as unfortunate exceptions.
