A Brief History of OKEBET

Before we get into the main part of this OKEBET review, let’s make something crystal clear – OKEBET.com.au is the address you need. Don’t confuse this Aussie-owned betting site with OKEBET.bet, an illegal online casino from the Philippines.

The unusual name – which is sometimes styled OkeBet, Okebet or okebet – comes from the company co-founder Norm Oke. A rails bookmaker in Victoria since 1998, Oke first launched this betting website in 2022.

However, Oke is no longer involved in this business – it now belongs exclusively to Mark Opie, the AFL manager and vastly experienced bookmaker. Registered as a sole trader, with ABN 29 274 734 864, Opie took ownership of OKEBET.com.au in September 2025.

Pros

Great for NRL, AFL and cricket odds Open an account in under one minute Excellent mobile app with rave reviews

Cons

Recently fined for a regulatory breach Slow weekend withdrawal pricessing

Is OKEBET a Trustworthy Betting Site?

Yes. Most notably, OKEBET is licensed by the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission.

When Mark Opie took full ownership, a high-profile investigation followed, due to a potential conflict of interest. However, he was cleared to continue his role as manager of Gold Coast Suns by the AFL Integrity Unit.

In January 2026, OKEBET was fined $100,000 for historical regulatory breaches. The company was found to have offered inducements to members of community sporting clubs in 2023, contravening Victoria’s Gambling Regulation Act 2003.

However, in response to this punishment, the company has tightened its player protection processes, and no longer offers sign-up bonuses.

OKEBET Online Betting Platform Review

If the vibe of OKEBET.com.au looks familiar, you may be thinking of brands like SwiftBet, Punt123 and Crownbet. All of these are built using the BetMakers white-label platform, so the look-and-feel is extremely similar.

In fairness, this software is very good. It’s extremely user-friendly, with a fast registration process and automated verification checks, easy navigation and speedy loading times. Early cashout is an option, as are Same Game/Race Multis.

The site does lack a few niche features, though. You can’t bet on esports, for example, and the only live streams available are for horse and greyhound racing, courtesy of OKEBET TV.

Market-Leading Odds on Aussie Favourites

We were surprised how consistently competitive the OKEBET odds are. Win margins are set at 105% for the country’s most popular leagues, including the AFL, NRL and most T20 and one day cricket competitions.

What does that mean in practice? Well, that figure is the same as – or better than – all of the biggest-name bookies. Take Sportsbet, for instance, whose AFL odds are some of the best in Australia – they also bet to 105%. Meanwhile, sites like Neds and Unibet offer slightly inferior odds, with margins of 106%.

NRL win odds are priced to 106% at Ladbrokes and Betr, while sites like Picklebet go to 107%. But only a few bookies, including Pointsbet, BetEstate and Sportsbet, can match the 105% of OKEBET.

Less Popular Sports

Soccer is the only major sport in which OKEBET strays from its aggressively low 105% model. The biggest competitions, like the Champions League, are priced to around 107%. This is still very competitive for Australia, though, where margins as high as 110% to 115% are quite normal.

Payment Methods at OKEBET

In terms of banking options, the OKEBET cashier is pretty average – see the table below for details.

Payment MethodDepositWithdrawal
Debit Card
PayID
Apple Pay
Google Pay
Bank Transfer

There are no transaction fees, at least, and the minimum deposit and withdrawal limits are very reasonable, set at $10 each.

Payout speeds are good – expect to receive a bank transfer within 12 hours if you request it early on a weekday.  Processing is suspended over the weekend, though, so a Friday evening withdrawal might require almost 72 hours to complete.

Is There an OKEBET Mobile App?

Yes, OKEBET does have a sports betting app. There’s native software available for Android and iOS devices, both of which are approved for display in the App Store and on Google Play.

The reviews are excellent, too. At the time of writing, 380 iOS users had left feedback in the App Store, producing a 4.5 out of 5 rating. The Android version isn’t thought of quite as highly, scoring 4.2 out 5. However, there were only 86 reviews on Google Play, so this may change over time.

OKEBET Promo Codes

After the National Consumer Protection Framework was modified in 2019, online betting sites in Australia can no longer induce players to make bets. For this reason, you won’t see OKEBET offering deposit match promotions, or signup bonus codes for new players.

However, existing account holders benefit from daily specials, which are visible upon login.

Finally, please take note of our affiliate referral code GOBET500. If you’re requested to enter such a code, we’d greatly appreciate your support.

Customer Support at OKEBET.com.au

OKEBET offers customer support via email (support@okebet.com.au) and live chat, but no other channels. Live help is offered from 8.30am to 10pm on Monday to Saturday, closing an hour earlier on Sundays.

Our first interaction with support caught us by surprise. If you click the “Live Chat” link in the main menu, followed by “Ask a question”, an AI chatbot called SAM appears. However, the robot didn’t actually answer – instead, a human called Mary appeared within a minute to provide accurate answers and helpful service.

  2. Tap the dark blue “Join” button at the top of the screen
  3. Supply your contact details, full name and date of birth
  4. Read the terms and conditions before pressing “VERIFY DETAILS”
  5. The site will check your info automatically – wait up to 30 seconds

Assuming there are no issues with the details provided, your new account will be approved and you’ll log in automatically. Otherwise, the next step is to contact live chat and provide identity documents like a passport or driving licence.

OKEBET Betting Site Review – Final Verdict

If OKEBET was already on your radar, we certainly wouldn’t try to put you off trying it. The platform is really user-friendly, with straightforward navigation and processes that feel less painful than some betting sites. And the mobile app is just as good as the responsive website.

In 2023, OKEBET found itself in hot water after breaching regulations around promotional activities. Since then, however, they’ve cleaned up their act – they no longer run signup bonuses, and have tightened their player protection protocols. We certainly don’t have any trust issues with this VGCCC-licensed bookmaker.

Of all the site’s many plus points, which include same-day payouts during the week, the odds are perhaps the biggest highlight. Few Aussie bookies can match the low margins of OKEBET, especially on AFL, NRL and cricket win lines.

OKEBET FAQs

Who owns OKEBET?

OKEBET is currently owned by well-known Australian bookmaker and AFL team manager Mark Opie. He is registered as a sole trader with ABN 29 274 734 864. When the OKEBET site launched in 2022, co-founder Norm Oke was still involved – that’s where the name comes from.

How do I download and install the OKEBET betting app?

Use one of the two icons at the bottom of the OKEBET website to install the mobile sports betting app. If your device is made by Apple, click “Download on the App Store”. Otherwise, hit the “Get it on Android” button to download and set up the software.

What is the OKEBET welcome bonus code?

Because OKEBET doesn’t have a welcome bonus, there is no promo code. In 2019, the regulations around this type of promotion were tightened. And in January 2026, OKEBET was fined $100,000 for breaching these rules – hence they no longer run such offers.

Does OKEBET have any bonuses and promotions?

Yes. Regular customers can benefit from a few standard promotions, but you’ll have to log in to your account to see what’s available to you. However, OKEBET no longer offers bonus codes.

Is there a OKEBET friend referral code?

Sort of. OKEBET doesn’t have a referral program, so you won’t see a code that gets you a bonus. However, you can find affiliate referral codes – please consider using GOBET500, as this helps us to keep producing valuable content.

How do I reset my OKEBET login and password?

To regain access to your account, hit the light blue “Log In” button on the OKEBET.com.au website, then click “Forgot Password”. Provide the email used to open your account, then check your inbox for a password reset link.
