We have a nine race card at Flemington this Saturday, the 8th of July, 2017, with the rail back in a true position – it was 9m here last time and the inside rail was not the preferred ground. Straight races were won nearer to the outside fence.
There are showers on the weather forecast but the track is currently rated as a good 4.

Tips by Will Cornwill.
Race 1. (11:45) Rivette Series Final 1600M
#4 Ruby Sea ($3.10 – BET NOW) – An extremely smart type this filly. Did everything wrong two starts back at Cranbourne and still managed to get over the line and then cantered in coming back from a fair way last start. The barrier is the only issue with her but the big Flemington straight should be a good thing considering she has the ability to win from a long way back. This is the race to build a bank for the next week or so, really can’t see her getting beaten.
Race 2. (12:20) VRC-CRV Cup Tour Trophy 2000M
#2 – Extra Zero ($11 – BET NOW) – Back to the track she loves so dearly in Flemington after two fantastic runs this preparation. The barrier isn’t ideal but there doesn’t look like there are many natural back markers are in the race so she will get a good spot and will be storming home like she did a few starts back here. Bayliss isn’t afraid of taking the gaps so if she is good enough, she wins.
Race 3. (12:55) Leilani Series Final 1400M
#4 – Hell or Highwater ($11 – BET NOW) – She is a horse I have followed throughout her career and she always needs to have a couple of meaningful runs under her belt before she reaches her best, her first run back however was very solid and she always runs well second up. She has been incredibly consistent all but one run when she jumped awkwardly and she maps incredibly well in the run, the $11 on offer is great Each way value.
Race 5. (14:10) AR Creswick Series Final 1200M
#1 – Ken’s Dream ($4.80 – BET NOW) – We haven’t seen the best of this colt in his last two runs, he was stuck in the slow part of the track last start and was poor two starts back. He has a wide barrier but I think Rawiller will be able to get him across nicely in a good spot considering the large amount of back markers in the field. Gets in pretty good at the weight and if we see he his best ( getting pipped in a 250k race and donkey licking a smart type in Toy Boy) then he will simply win this race. Invincible Al is the only danger but he got beaten by Overstep who is overrated and way unders in the betting.
Race 6. (14:50) Banjo Paterson Series Final 2600M
#5 – Hursley ($4.80 – BET NOW) – A huge chance in this race. He has been racing well in races a bit better than these and with Oliver on board you know he will have every chance to win the race. He lost ground last start whereas the winner Charlevoix didn’t so I can see him easily turning the tides on him. Was terrific really in his first start at the longer trip than usual and he will only learn and gain from that experience. Looks the winner here.
Race 9. (16:45) Silver Bowl Series Final 1600M
#1 – Urban Ruler ($4.20 – BET NOW)– He is absolutely flying this preparation and currently is clearly the class horse in the race. His run last start after getting a butcher ride from Sadler was brilliant – was widest on the turn and if the race goes for another 100 meters he wins. The only negatives are the big weight and the barrier but with any luck whatsoever he will win this race with ease. If it wasn’t for the barrier he would be the best for the day.
