Paul Gallen vs. Lucas Browne Fight Picks & Predictions

The talk is finally over and now Paul Gallen and Lucas Browne can get down to business.

Gallen, a former rugby league star for the Cronulla Sharks, New South Wales’ Blues, and Australian Kangaroos, has become a boxing star.

However, Lucas Browne is a seasoned professional and he knows what it takes to talk the talk and walk the walk.

We look at the best betting opportunities for punters for Wednesday night’s blockbuster fight.

Gallen vs. Browne Predictions

Gallen vs Brown Fight Prediction

Paul Gallen is 10-0-1 after stunning New Zealand MMA star Mark Hunt, but Lucas Browne is a former heavyweight boxing champion, which is quite a rise in quality of opponent.

Lucas ‘Big Daddy’ Brown is 29-2 and a former WBO Inter-Continental Heavyweight Title holder. That belt was put around his waist in 2014, so it has been seven years. However, he scored the win over an undefeated fighter, so it was all class.

Despite retiring in 2019 after beating former league player John Hopoate, Browne is back to put away another former league player. He has exchanged some harsh words with Paul Gallen, who is no stranger to smack talk.

Gallen doesn’t have any notable wins on his record. He has beaten mostly former league players before beating Mark Hunt via decision. However, Mark Hunt is a kick-boxing and MMA specialist, who was never going to good at boxing.

The win might have given Gallen false confidence heading into this fight. He now faces a fighter with 29 wins and only two losses, which mostly came against the world’s best in his division.

Lucas Browne might be coming back for one last hurrah, but overlooking his record would be a huge mistake for punters.

Bookmakers have cottoned onto the fact that Browne is a fully-fledged professional. He is currently the $1.51 favourite and shortening with every second.

Paul Gallen is currently listed at $2.45, which is a fair price given his record. However, bookmakers are taking most of the action for Lucas Browne.

In the head-to-head market, we like Browne to win. He would love to come back from retirement and quiet Gallen. We suggest taking the $1.51 and although it’s on the shorter side of value, we’d rather back Browne than Gallen.

Bet: Lucas Browne to win @ $1.51Bet @ Sportsbet

Gallen vs Browne Exotic Betting Picks

Gallen vs Browne is only a six-round fight, so expect to see fireworks in the short format.

Most of the money has come for Browne to win via KO/TKO, which the camp we’re in. Neither fighter will be wanting it to go to the judges’ scorecards, so a big blow should be landed.

Browne has the heavier hands and Paul Gallen was rocked by a Mark Hunt punch, so that bodes well for a better technical boxer in Browne.

We expect Lucas Browne to wear down Gallen and go for the kill in Round 4. A knockout in Round 4 pays $9.50 with Sportsbet and that’s where the value resides.

Alternatively, you can back Browne to win in rounds 5-6, which pays $5.50. There is more security with this selection and you get two chances.

Punters can also bet on whether the fight will go the distance. We suggest backing the ‘no’ option at $1.72. We expect a stoppage, so this option covers both bases.

Bet: Browne by KO/TKO at $2.70Bet @ Sportsbet
