We have expert betting tips for three of the best MLB games this Thursday, October 1.
The MLB playoffs have started and we pick three of the best Game 1’s this week, which includes Reds vs. Braves, Cardinals vs. Padres, and Brewers vs. Dodgers.
MLB Playoffs Betting Tips
Cincinnati Reds vs. Atlanta Braves Game 1 @ Truist Park
The Atlanta Braves weren’t the strongest team leading into the playoffs, but their 35-25 record speaks for itself.
They enter this game as firm favourites despite dropping their last two games against the Boston Red Sox. Atlanta didn’t need to win those games, so we will let them off with a pass mark.
It is only a three-game series, so winning Game 1 couldn’t be more important. Look for the Braves to call upon Freddie Freeman and Marcell Ozuna, who have great records in 2020.
They send Max Fried to the mound, who has been steady this season. He has the edge over Trevor Bauer, so we give the Braves an edge in the pitching matchup.
Punters are getting good odds for the Braves and the home team could get the job done.
Betting Pick: Atlanta Braves to win ($1.75) – Bet @ Sportsbet
St Louis Cardinals vs. San Diego Padres @ Petco Park
San Diego has been the surprise package of the 2020 season and having Manny Machado in the lineup has certainly helped.
The former Oriole has hit for an .304 average, which includes 47 RBI and 16 home runs. He has been the rock for this Padres team, which has had help from Fernando Tatis Jr.
With a 37-23 record during the regular season, the Padres are worthy contenders for this series. They scored seven more wins than St Louis, who also did well to make it this far.
The Cardinals were a touch inconsistent towards the end of the season, but they ended a five-game series against Milwaukee with a 5-2 win.
However, they are scored 44 fewer home runs than the Padres, and that’s where this game could be won and lost. They aren’t as efficient offensively, so we are picking the Padres to take Game 1.
San Diego enters this game riding a three-game winning streak and they finished only behind the Dodgers in their conference.
They have a home record of 21-11 and that could be enough to see them win Game 1 and go close to advancing in the MLB playoffs.
Betting Pick: San Diego Padres to win – Bet @ Sportsbet
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers @ Dodger Stadium
There were big expectations placed on the Dodgers this season and they didn’t disappoint. They ended the regular season with a commanding 43-17 record, which led their division with ease.
They have a home record of 21-9 and when playing as the favourite, they have a 36-24 record, which also means they never started a game as an underdog this season.
The addition of Mookie Betts and enhanced offensive production from the likes of A.J. Pollock and Corey Seager was enough to see the Dodgers lead the way.
It will be a tough ask for the Milwaukee Brewers, who failed to have a winning record in the regular season. They finished with a 29-31 record, which falls short of their pre-season expectations.
There hasn’t been enough offense for the Brewers, who have hit only 75 home runs and scored 247 runs. Compared those statistics to the 118 home runs and 349 runs for the Dodgers.
Game 1 should be an easy win for the Dodgers, who could easily sweep the Brewers in this three-game series.
Betting Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers to win – Bet @ Sportsbet
