Tim Tszyu vs Takeshi Inoue Fight Picks & Predictions

Australian superstar Tim Tszyu fights the pride of Japan Takeshi Inoue for the WBO Super Welterweight title on Wednesday night.

The 19-0 Tszyu has beaten allcomers to date, including Jeff Horn and Steve Spark. He is one of the best-performed fighters in Australian history, but it won’t be an easy fight against the 17-1-1 Inoue.

Bookmakers have Tszyu at skinny odds to retain his belt at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.

Tszyu vs. Inoue Predictions

Tszyu vs Inoue Fight Prediction

We think this will be Tim Tszyu’s hardest fight to date, despite having faced former world champion Jeff Horn and the dangerous Dennis Hogan.

The 27-year-old owns 15 knockout wins from 19 fights, which is an incredible record. However, he’s now facing a talented Japanese fighter who has only one loss on his record.

Takeshi Inoue hasn’t fought the same quality of opposition as Tszyu, except for his loss to 31-0 Jaime Munguia in 2019. That loss came via unanimous decision, and he has since added wins over low-level opponents.

Despite the Japanese fighters’ record not standing up to the locals, he shouldn’t be overlooked. He has speed and power, and he reflects a better chance than $8.

It’s a big price for the challenger, who most believe won’t go the distance. Tszyu is $1.36 to score a knockout victory, which is a short price, but it is a 12-round fight, so the favourite has time to land the big blow.

“It’s a similar type of style to Brian Castano, that walk forward, small little boy, big muscly, swinging type of style,” Tszyu told News.com.au. “It’s going to be a good test on that stage and it is a world calibre opponent. “I do respect everything that he’s done but I came into this sport to achieve not just a world title, but world titles in multiple divisions so I’m here for the long run.”

The problem is trying to find value for Tszyu. He is so short that most punters won’t bother with the $1.06, so we’re looking for the best value with the sportsbook.

The $1.36 for a KO win could be added to boxing multi bets, but we would take a saver on Tszyu winning by decision at $4. Inoue is a smart fighter, who has no trouble going the distance.

We think that is the best value, and although the crowd won’t like to see it go to the judges, Inoue must be respected. Our best bet is Tszyu to win by KO, but take a small wager on a decision victory because the odds are worth taking.

Tszyu vs Inoue Exotic Betting Picks

There is a chance Tszyu could land a knockout punch, but if it comes, it will likely be in the later rounds.

The current favourite is Round 3 at $9.50, but that’s far too short. Tszyu has no problem feeling out his opponent and we think he’ll take his time and go for the kill much later in the fight.

Round 10 at $13 is a much better value pick, especially if Inoue comes out aggressive. That could send Tszyu on his heels, so the odds are worth the risk.

There is also value in betting for the fight to end in Rounds 9-12, which pays $4.50. For all the reasons stated above, this fight should be decided in the late rounds.

If you’re feeling risky, you can pick what minute the fight will end. It’s not a bet for the faint of heart, but it could provide some excitement. Our pick is the 34th minute, which pays a healthy $51. It’s a tough bet to land, but the odds make it worthwhile.
