Tuesday College Basketball Picks

St John’s Red Storm vs. Uconn Huskies @ Gampel Pavillion

St John’s might have a disappointing 7-7 record, but the Red Storm have been competing well against tough college basketball teams.

They bounced back from a loss to Creighton by beating Butler 69-57. Butler has since defeated Creighton in overtime on Sunday, so it’s a good form guide.

A stiffer test approaches as the Red Storm take on 7-1 Uconn, which bounced back from a loss to Creighton with four consecutive victories.

Wins over Marquette and Butler have put the Huskies back into a top-25 spot, and their only loss this season came in overtime by two points.

James Bouknight is scoring over 20 points per game, and although they are light in other position, he is doing enough for the Huskies to win.

However, St John’s is capable of producing an upset and this won’t be an easy game for Uconn. Julian Champagnie is playing well with 20.7 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see St John’s keep this close.

Florida State Seminoles vs. Louisville Cardinals @ KFC Yum Center

Florida State vs. Louisville is always a good matchup, and both teams enter this game with excellent records.

Louisville lost its second game of the season against Miami last week, but they had gone on a lengthy winning streak prior to that.

Quality wins over Virginia Tech and Kentucky see them ranked inside the top-20, which is where the Seminoles hope to end up.

Florida State bounced back from a loss to Clemson with wins over NC State and North Carolina. The win over NC State came by an incredible margin of 32 points, which was their best performance of the season.

They are scoring 79.1 points per game and allowing 69.7 points. It ranks slightly better than Louisville’s 71.2 points scored and 64.4 points given up.

The Cardinals’ loss to Miami could have depleted their confidence, and facing an in-form Florida State isn’t what they will be wanting.

We expect bookmakers to have Louisville as favourites, but the value will be with the Seminoles.

Kansas Jayhawks vs. Baylor Bears @ Ferrell Center

Two of the best teams in college basketball square off on Tuesday, as the 10-3 Jayhawks face the unbeaten Baylor Bears.

Kansas comes off a 75-70 loss to Oklahoma State, but we believe they were looking ahead to this game. Expect a better-prepared team this time around, but they’ll need to improve.

Baylor is unbeaten after 12 games, and after facing easy teams for a while, wins over TCU and Oklahoma have shown its quality.

The Bears scored a 67-49 win over TCU, and this will be their toughest test this season. However, there is no reason why Baylor won’t be able to rise to the challenge.

Jared Butler and Davion Mitchell are playing superb basketball, and it’s more about a team effort with the Bears. The same goes for Kansas, who don’t rely on one player to get the job done.

Stylistically, these teams matchup evenly. They are both capable of playing lockdown defence, and scoring isn’t a problem. Baylor scores 89 points per game and Kansas 76.4.

We give the edge to Baylor, who are 5-0 in the conference and looking to put some space between them and the Texas Longhorns.

Bookmakers should have Baylor around $1.40 for this game, and any head-to-head price around that mark is good shopping.
