ICC Champions Trophy Final Tips & Predictions

India vs New Zealand @ Dubai International Stadium

India made the final by beating Australia with a total of 267/6 after 48.1 overs, and it wasn’t the most convincing performance from the tournament favourites, so we’re not interested in taking India at $1.40.

The odds are too short, and although they defeated New Zealand in a dead rubber game last week, there was nothing on the line. New Zealand looked more impressive in their semifinal win over South Africa, especially the top order.

The Black Caps scored 362/6 and South Africa managed only 312 in return, with Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson showing why they’re two of the best in the business. Their centuries set up an easy win for the Kiwis, and they’re good enough to handle the spin attack from India.

Bookmakers have the Black Caps at $2.87, which is a lovely value price for the underdogs. The Kiwis have always been one of the better tournament teams, and we think they have enough momentum to get the job done in the Champions Trophy Final.

We expect late money to come for New Zealand, so lock in the odds.

Bet: New Zealand @ $2.87

Top India Run Scorer and Wicket Taker

We are hoping Virat Kohli has a good performance with the bat. He was our pre-tournament pick to be the top run scorer, and he doesn’t need many runs in the final to get it done.

He’s currently 10 runs behind the leader, but Shubman Gill isn’t far behind him, so it will depend how they both perform. We’re backing Kohli to top score for India, and his big-game experience should be enough to get it done.

Kohli has already had some big scores throughout the tournament and he could cap it off in style. Punters get $4.10 for Kohli to top score for India, and those odds are worth snapping up.

We are also backing Mohammad Shami to take the most wickets. He’s good enough tear through the Black Caps lineup if he gets his lines right, and the $3.70 suggests he’s one of the leading chances for India.

Bet: Virat Kolhi @ $4.10 & Mohammad Shami @ $3.70

Top New Zealand Run Scorer and Wicket Taker

Much like Kohli, we expect a similar performance from New Zealand’s leader Williamson.

He comes off a big score against South Africa, and doing that in consecutive matches isn’t easy, but he plays at his own pace and never gets rattled.

Williamson has been in this position many times before, so the occasion won’t get the better of him, and that’s why he’s favourite at $3.80 to be top run scorer for New Zealand. He’s key to their success, so take the odds.

In the bowling department, it could be time for William O’Rourke to shine. He hasn’t been a Black Cap for long but he has made a good impact. This is his biggest game in his career, but cometh the hour, cometh the man.

O’Rourke is a $4.60 chance to take the most wickets for NZ.

Bet: Kane Williamson @ $3.80 & William O’Rourke @ $4.60
