The footballing calendar never stops and fresh off the back of one of the most remarkable World Cups in living memory, the 2026/27 Premier League season is upon us.

Having finally broken their 20-year duck, Arsenal are the champions and pre-season is anything to go by, they look to be the most settled team in the division under Mikel Arteta. Holding their nerve when it mattered last term and investing in the squad heavily again this summer, sees them start as strong favourites to defend their crown.

Manchester City clinched both domestic cups last term but head into the new season under Enzo Maresca, with a huge shift in personnel too, having said goodbye to the likes of Bernardo Silva, John Stones and Rodri.

Big hitters align in pursuit, with Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham all having spent big over the summer, as they look to close the gap to the top two and mount title challenges of their own.

Down at the bottom, newly promoted sides Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City will all be looking to avoid the drop and with so much to play for every week, it promises to be another fascinating Premier League season.

With 38 games to play, drama is always guaranteed and here is a look ahead at some of the key markets over the course of the 2026/27 Premier League campaign:

Premier League Outright Winner

Continuity could prove to be telling in the title race this year and Arsenal already look like the team to catch. Winning the championship last year and reaching the Champions League final felt hugely significant for the Gunners, who look well equipped to go again. Mikel Arteta always loves to throw the chequebook at player recruitment and with the likes of Ezri Konsa and Bruno Guimaraes recruited this summer, yet more Premier League quality is in their ranks. There is plenty of football to be played this term, but Arsenal are undoubtedly the team to beat this season.

Enzo Maresca is the man in the hotseat for Manchester City and the blues are in the midst of a real rebuild. The likes of Nathan Ake, Rodri, Bernardo Silva and John Stones have followed Pep Guardiola out of the door, as City look to reshuffle the pack. Elliot Anderson is the biggest name arrival for the blues, who haven’t won the league for two seasons, but who continue to be one of the biggest teams in Europe and it should be a fascinating campaign at the Etihad.

Last season was one to firmly forget for Liverpool, with Arne Slot paying the price as manager. Andoni Iraola has been brought in to replace the Dutchman, and his stock couldn’t be higher following a great season with Bournemouth last term. Mohamed Salah’s departure is a significant one for the reds, who will take some serious replacing but forcing their way back into the title fight is key and they can’t be discarded.

Chelsea - $9.00

Xabi Alonso is the newest contender in the Chelsea hotseat, and the Spaniard will be looking for his first taste of Premier League glory. He has a squad packed with talent, including the mercurial duo of Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers, two players tasked with bringing the glory days back to Stamford Bridge. With no European commitments this term, Chelsea could be the dark horses in the title race, and they remain a threat in any game they play.

Now into his fifth year as a City player, Haaland has won every domestic and European cup available to him at his time at the club and he will be eager to lead the next generation with yet more goals.

British record signing Alexander Isak struggled during his first season at Anfield last term, battling injuries and a loss of form but his quality is undoubted. If he can get minutes under his belt, Isak will score goals and he is a force to be reckoned with.

The number nine shirt at Chelsea is always one that is coveted but Joao Pedro will be looking to carry the can with it this season. Few strikers offer the all round threat that the Brazilian does and having now been entrusted as the main man in West London, he could bang in the goals this term.

Premier League To be Relegated

Survival is absolutely key in the Premier League but here are our picks to slip into trouble this season:

Coming through the playoffs at the eleventh hour was significant for Hull City, who have spent money in pursuit of Premier League safety. They are a well versed outfit, who have some quality in their ranks but staying up this term looks to be a tall order.
