The international break has dominated the footballing landscape over the past couple of weeks but normality resumes this weekend with the return of the Premier League. Manchester City sit, a remarkable 8 points clear of the chasing pack with Tottenham and Manchester United leading the charge to catch them. Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea sit even further back and seemingly have a mountain to climb to catch Pep Guardiola’s men.
Slavan Bilic was the latest managerial casualty at West Ham with David Moyes being brought in to replace the Croatian whilst the likes of Burnley, Brighton and Watford will be keen to cement their mid-table positions.
Here are our picks for the twelfth round of fixtures in the Premier League:
23:30 Arsenal vs Tottenham – Emirates Stadium
The problems continue to mount for Arsene Wenger, whose side have already lost 4 times in the Premier League this season. With question marks over his team selection and the effort levels of key players being questioned, it’s a testing time for the Frenchman. The Gunners sit in 6th place, 12 points behind Manchester City and 4 behind Saturday’s opponents Spurs and they will be fully aware of the need for points. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have had a remarkable season so far – keeping pace in the Premier League and performing miracles in Europe – beating Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid. Spurs look to have come to terms with playing at Wembley and sit 3rd in the table – level on points with second placed Manchester United. Harry Kane has deservedly received all the plaudits this term – bagging 13 goals in all competitions already this season.
North London Derbies are notoriously fiery encounters and with so much at stake, this could be a cagey affair between two teams that can’t afford to lose.
Betting tip: Both teams to score and the match to finish as a draw ($4.2) BET NOW
02:00 Bournemouth vs Huddersfield Town – Vitality Stadium
Huddersfield Town ($4.65)
Eddie Howe’s struggling Cherries welcome in-form Huddersfield to the Vitality Stadium in need of 3 vital points. Despite their impressive win at Newcastle last time out, Bournemouth only sit one place and one point outside of the relegation zone and will be feeling the pressure to put points on the board. Huddersfield haven’t travelled particularly well this term but are sitting comfortably in 10th position. The Cherries have struggled this term and have only picked up 10 points from their first 11 games. Uncharacteristically, Eddie Howe’s men have struggled for goals – managing a mere 7 so far this term – a real concern for the south coast outfit. David Wagner has overseen a remarkable rise at the John Smith’s Stadium and the fairy tale has continued into the Premier League.
The Terriers claimed the prize scalp of Manchester United last month and have only lost 4 top-flight games so far this term.
Bournemouth won last time out and need to continue their streak of form in order to pull away from danger.
Betting tip: Bournemouth to win the match and keep a clean sheet, as a double ($4.16) BET NOW
Bournemouth to win 1-0
02:00 Burnley vs Swansea City – Turf Moor
Swansea City ($4)
Sean Dyche’s high-flying Burnley welcome an indifferent Swansea side to Turf Moor looking to continue their sparkling start to the season. The Clarets impressive 1-0 win at Southampton last time out epitomised all that has been good about Burnley this term – astute defending coupled with the ability to be clinical in front of goal has left them in 7th place in the Premier League table. Swansea are languishing in 19th place and won’t be relishing the trip to Lancashire one bit. The Clarets have been the surprise package in the Premier League this season – beating Chelsea, Southampton and Everton already this term. In contrast, without a win in over a month, the Swans are two points adrift of Premier League safety and have struggled for goals this term – only managing 7 in 11 matches.
Burnley haven’t beaten Swansea in their previous 4 meetings but should have too much quality and confidence for the Swans.
Betting tip: Burnley to win the match and keep a clean sheet ($4.49) BET NOW
Burnley to win 1-0
02:00 Crystal Palace vs Everton – Selhurst Park
Crystal Palace ($2.45)
Selhurst Park plays host to a battle between two struggling sides with the need for points great for both sides. Roy Hodgson’s Palace side sit 6 points from safety in the Premier League but the former England manager is sure to be encouraged by recent performances from his team. Everton won last time out in an entertaining encounter with Watford but David Unsworth is yet to secure the full time post at Goodison Park. Roy Hodgson will be hoping his charges can continue their promising form against the Toffees in what has the makings of a ding-dong battle. With 4 points and only 4 goals scored in their 11 games – Palace have really struggled this term with their only win coming against last season’s Champions, Chelsea. David Unsworth had the look of a man resigned to the sack when 2-0 down against Watford last time out but he will be delighted by the resilience shown by his side to turn things around and win 3-2 thanks to a last minute Leighton Baines penalty. The Toffees are only 2 points above relegation trouble and will need to piece a run together to steer away from the dreaded drop zone.
Despite struggling for goals, this should be an entertaining match between two sides that have struggled defensively this season.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw and both teams to score ($4.75) BET NOW
02:00 Leicester City vs Manchester City – King Power Stadium
Leicester City ($9.5)
Manchester City ($1.36)
2015-16 Premier League Champions Leicester welcome runaway leaders Manchester City to the King Power stadium – looking to be the first team to beat Pep Guardiola’s men this term. Claude Puel has overseen a win and a draw in his first two matches in charge of the Foxes and he will be fully aware of the task facing him on Saturday. Manchester City have blown away all before them so far this term and currently sit 8 points clear of the chasing pack in the Premier League. The Foxes had a tough start to the season for which Craig Shakespeare paid the ultimate price and lost his job back in October. Claude Puel has overseen an encouraging period in which his side have charged up the league to 12th position with 13 points from their 11 games. Pundits have run out of superlatives for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City with the sky blues having won 10 and drawn 1 of their 11 league games. Their European form has been equally as impressive with 4 wins from 4 so far in the Champions League. They’ve notched 52 goals already this term in all formats and have a remarkable +31 goal difference in the Premier League.
This could well be the most entertaining match of the weekend between two forward thinking teams.

Manchester City to win 2-1
02:00 Liverpool vs Southampton – Anfield
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool welcome struggling Southampton to Anfield as the reds pursue the teams above them in the table. The reds have won their last 3 matches in all competitions and look to be finding form at a crucial time of the year. Mauricio Pellegrino represented Liverpool as a player and will be relishing the opportunity to return to Anfield as a manager. The reds have had an inconsistent start to the season, losing heavily to Manchester City and Tottenham whilst picking up great results against Arsenal and Leicester. They are currently in 5th place in the Premier League, 3 points outside the Champions League places having scored 21 goals in their 11 games so far whilst conceding an alarming 17 goals in the league so far. The Saints have had a troubled start to the season – scoring 9 goals in their 11 games so far and they sit only 4 points above the relegation zone. Mauricio Pellegrino has struggled to get the best out of his troops so far during his tenure and he will be desperate to improve on his teams’ 13th place standing.

Liverpool to win 2-0
02:00 West Brom vs Chelsea – The Hawthorns
West Brom ($6.5)
Antonio Conte’s Chelsea travel north to the Midlands to take on Tony Pulis’ struggling West Bromwich Albion side. Chelsea’s indifferent start to the season has been well documented but their 1-0 win over Manchester United could be the catalyst for the rest of their campaign. West Brom sit 2 points above the drop zone and need to pick up points quickly. The Baggies started the season strongly, winning their first two games but they have failed to win a league game in over 2 months. With 10 points from their 11 games and only 9 goals scored, Tony Pulis has spoken of his dismay at his team’s recent performances. The Blues were in disarray prior to their 1-0 win over Manchester United last time out and Alvaro Morata’s goal could well be a seminal moment in their season. Sat 9 points off Premier League leaders Manchester City, Antonio Conte is fully aware of the enormity of the task facing his side to retain the trophy this term.
West Brom’s defence hasn’t been at its strongest this term and they could struggle to keep Chelsea at bay.
Betting tip: Chelsea to win the match and both teams to score – as a double ($4) BET NOW
Chelsea to win 2-1
04:30 Manchester United vs Newcastle United – Old Trafford
Manchester United ($1.28)
Newcastle United ($14)
Two old adversaries meet on Saturday evening as Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United look to bounce back from a disappointing result against Chelsea last time out against Rafa Benitez’s resolute Newcastle. United currently sit 8 points behind cross-city rivals City and need to start catching the Blues as quickly as possible. The Toon are performing above expectations this term and sit in comfortably in 11th place in the table. Both teams come into this game off the back of good results and will fancy their chances against their rivals. The Red Devils have had a strong start to the season but have fallen by the wayside in different weeks, Defeats to Huddersfield and Chelsea have curtailed their title charge although with 27 games to go, they will be confident of their ability to catch rivals Manchester City. The reds possess the best defence in the league – only conceding 5 goals in 11 games so far this term and are yet to concede a goal at Old Trafford in the league this term. Back to back defeats have pegged the Magpies back in recent weeks although they are still looking comfortable in 11th place in the league table. Having scored 10 and conceded 10 in their opening 11 matches, Rafa Benitez will be looking for a little more consistency from his side.
Manchester United have the meanest defence in the league and should have too much quality for Newcastle.

Manchester United to win 2-0
03:00 Watford vs West Ham United – Vicarage Road
West Ham United ($3.6)
David Moyes’s tenure in charge of West Ham begins with a tricky looking trip to North London to face Marco Silva’s, Watford. A 4-1 defeat to Liverpool last time out spelled the end for Slavan Bilic and Moyes has been installed until the end of the season in an attempt to pull the Hammers away from relegation trouble. Silva himself has been courting attention from other clubs, with Everton rumoured to be interested in hiring the Portuguese manager that is beginning to make a name for himself in the Premier League. The Hornets have had a strong start to the season and sit in 9th place with 15 points from their 11 games. Three consecutive defeats to Chelsea, Stoke and Everton have curtailed an encouraging run that saw them being talked about as potentially breaking into the top 7 of the league. The goals have been flying in too – with 17 scored in their 11 games although their record of 21 goals conceded isn’t too encouraging. Slavan Bilic was eventually shown the door at Upton Park following an indifferent string of results however his replacement David Moyes has been given an indifferent reception by the Hammers supporters. Languishing in 18th place, the Hammers have some work to do to steer clear of the bottom 3 and having conceded 23 goals in their 11 games so far – Moyes will need to sure up the defensive unit instantly.

07:00 Brighton vs Stoke City – AMEX Stadium
Stoke City ($3.2)
Chris Hughton’s Seagulls have had an incredible start to the season and sit in 8th place whilst Mark Hughes’s Stoke side have had a topsy-turvy start to the campaign. Unbeaten in their last 4 games, Brighton have acclimatised incredibly well to Premier League life and have become very difficult to beat. Stoke’s defensive record this season has been poor but with 4 points from their last 2 games – recent performances suggest their form is improving. Brighton have been incredibly impressive this season – picking up 15 points from their opening 11 games of the season. Their resolute defence (11 goals conceded) has provided a strong platform for Chris Hughton’s men to sit well clear of relegation trouble. The Potters had a tricky start to the season and were flirting with relegation trouble prior to picking up 4 points in their last 2 games – with an impressive win at Watford and a gritty 2-2 draw with Leicester last time out. Despite having the second worst defence in the league, Stoke have picked up points against Manchester United and Arsenal this term and sit in 14th place.
Both teams have been defensively strong this season which could lead to a close match.
This could be a fiery encounter between two sides who need to register points to maintain their push away from relegation.
