Manchester City stretched their lead at the top of the Premier League to 11 points following their feisty 2-1 win over local rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford. The fallout from ‘Derby Day’ continued as Jurgen Klopp bemoaned the referee in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Everton whilst Arsenal and Chelsea dropped crucial points in the pursuit of European football.
Elsewhere, Tottenham got back to winning ways with a handsome 5-1 win at home to Stoke – who endured the wrath of their fans at the train station on the way home whilst Leicester and Burnley continued their strong starts to put themselves in the Europa League picture.

06:45 Burnley vs Stoke City
Stoke City ($3.75)
Two teams with hugely contrasting form meet at Turf Moor on Tuesday evening with crucial points on offer for both sides. The Clarets are flying high in 7th position in the table and looks to have developed an effective playing style under Sean Dyche – who is rightfully gaining plaudits for the job he has done this season. Burnley have amassed an incredible 28 points from their opening 16 games and Premier League safety almost looks assured for the Clarets already. They are only 2 points off the Champions League places and will be looking to stage an outside run towards European football. Stoke meanwhile were hammered at Tottenham last time out and the sharks are circling for Mark Hughes who is struggling to get things going at Stoke City currently and with Premier League safety of paramount importance for all clubs, Stoke need points fast. Their 5-1 thumping at Tottenham last time out has given them the worst defensive record in the division, with 35 goals conceded from their opening 16 games.
Burnley look full of confidence and should heap the misery on Mark Hughes and Stoke.
Betting tip: Burnley to win the match and under 2.5 goals in the game – as a double ($4.2) BET NOW
Burnley to win 1 – 0
07:00 Crystal Palace vs Watford – Selhurst Park
Crystal Palace ($2.3)
Watford travel to Selhurst Park looking to get back to winning side against a Crystal Palace side that have been resurgent under Roy Hodgson. The Eagles looked doomed in October, without a win, point or goal in their first 7 league games but their 2-1 win over Chelsea has been the catalyst. Roy Hodgson’s men currently sit bottom of the pile but they are now only 2 points from safety and are unbeaten in their last 5 Premier League matches. The Hornets have had an excellent start to the campaign – with 22 points to their name from their opening 16 games. Impressive performances against Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool have added to the credibility of manager Marco Silva who rejected advances from Everton to stay at Vicarage Road.
This could be a cagey encounter between two well matched sides.
Betting tip: Match to end as a draw and both teams to score ($4.5) BET NOW
07:00 Huddersfield Town vs Chelsea – John Smith’s Stadium
Huddersfield Town ($9)
Chelsea travel north to Huddersfield looking to banish memories of their abject defeat at West Ham United last time out and keep up to speed in the Premier League title race. David Wagner has masterminded Huddersfield into 12th place in the Premier League table – 5 points clear of the relegation picture. Heavy defeats to Arsenal and Tottenham have been punctuated by strong showings against Manchester City and a famous win over Manchester United – suggesting its consistency the Terriers lack whilst Steve Mounie bagged both goals last time out as Huddersfield beat Brighton, to boost his tally for the season to 4. The Blues have now dropped 16 points this season from as many games – an alarming statistic for Antonio Conte’s men. They currently sit in 3rd place – with 32 points from 16 games and their priority for the time being may well be securing Champions League football.
This could be a cagey affair that Chelsea should be able to emerge victorious from.
Betting tip: Chelsea to win the match and over 2.5 goals to be scored in the game ($2.38) BET NOW
Chelsea to win 3-1
06:45 Newcastle United vs Everton – St James’s Park
Newcastle United ($2.45)
Rafa Benitez’s Toon Army will be looking to ease their relegation fears as they take on Sam Allardyce’s in-form Everton side at St James’s Park. The Toon have slipped into the relegation picture in recent weeks and currently sit only 2 points from safety. They have only managed 1 point from their last 7 games and Benitez will be starting to feel the pressure at St James’s Park. Sam Allardyce has orchestrated a resurgence on Merseyside, unbeaten in his opening 3 games – including an impressive 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield. He will be relishing the opportunity to return to one of his former clubs and with 9-goal Wayne Rooney in his squad, Big Sam will fancy his chances of getting a result.
This could be an entertaining fixture between two well supported sides – with managers who don’t think too much of each other.
Betting tip: Both teams to score and the match to end as a draw ($4.6) BET NOW
06:45 Southampton vs Leicester City
Leicester City ($3.8)
Claude Puel will be relishing the opportunity to take his in-form Leicester City side to his old club Southampton as the Foxes look to build on their solid start under the Frenchman. The Saints were beginning to feel the pressure in November but a win over Everton, coupled with strong points away at Bournemouth and at home to Arsenal have strengthened Mauricio Pellegrino’s position. They currently reside in 11th place in the table – although their measly goal tally of 16 goals from 16 games clearly requires improvement. The Foxes have been in sublime form of late and have surged up the table – they currently sit in 8th position, they have won their last 3 matches and have only lost once in their last 11 games in all competitions. Riyad Mahrez meanwhile, has been in incredible form in recent weeks – scoring 2 goals in his last 3 games and he is beginning to show the form that won him the PFA Player of the Year in 2016.
Puel will have a point to prove here and Leicester play their best football away from home.
Betting tip: Leicester City to win the game ($3.8) BET NOW
Leicester City to win 2-1
06:45 Swansea City vs Manchester City
Swansea City ($15)
Manchester City ($1.25)
Swansea will be looking to build on their first win in months as a late Wilfried Bony strike pulled Paul Clement’s men off the foot of the Premier League table last weekend. The Swans have amassed 12 points from 16 games and with only 9 league goals scored all season, the Swans look to have a mountain to climb currently. The could have their work cut out against an all-conquering Manchester City side who are 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table and appear to be the Champions-elect with only 16 games played – having only dropped 2 points all season.
Swansea are sure to make this very tough for City, who could be feeling the hangover from their historic Derby win – but should just squeeze by here.
Betting tip: Manchester City to win the match and both teams to score ($2.8) BET NOW
Manchester City to win 3-1
07:00 Liverpool vs West Bromwich Albion
West Bromwich Albion ($15)
Following their derby day disappointment, Jurgen Klopp’s team selection was questioned and the reds are currently 16 points behind Manchester City. The reds are in a fine run of form though, scoring 16 goals in their last 4 games in all competitions and Jurgen Klopp’s men appear to be playing free-flowing football with a real swagger currently. Alan Pardew’s arrival at the Hawthorns perhaps hasn’t had the immediate effect the fans desired with the Baggies now only out of the relegation zone on goal difference – following defeat to Swansea last time out. They look low on confidence and are very much immersed in the relegation picture and Pardew’s pragmatism means they will be seeing this game as a free hit rather than an opportunity to get points on the board.
Liverpool will still be reeling from their draw with Everton and should put West Brom to the sword.
Betting tip: Liverpool to win the match with a -2.5 Asian Handicap ($2.6) BET NOW
Liverpool to win 4-0
07:00 Manchester United vs Bournemouth
Manchester United ($1.28)
Manchester United were outplayed by local rivals City last time out and will need to be wary of a dangerous Bournemouth side. As the fallout from their derby day defeat continues, Jose Mourinho’s men must go about making up their 11 point deficit in the title race or face having to prioritise European football qualification next season. The Cherries have been in excellent form of late – 1 defeat in their last 6 has pulled them 3 points clear of the dreaded drop zone. Their 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace last time out has left them in 14th position with 16 points from their opening 16 games.
The pressure is all on United to try and catch their rivals and they need a result to appease their restless fans.
Betting tip: Manchester United to win the match to nil ($2.06) BET NOW
Manchester United to win 2-0
07:00 Tottenham vs Brighton
Tottenham will be looking to continue their strong home form of late as they welcome Brighton to Wembley. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have fallen off the pace in the Premier League and currently find themselves 18 points behind Manchester City but their thumping of Stoke last time out could be the catalyst for a successful festive period. Overall, Chris Hughton will be delighted with his sides whoring this term, 17 points registered from 16 games is a fantastic return for a promoted side but without a win in 5 and with teams catching them up in below them, the Seagulls are in need of a boost before the festive period begins. With only 14 goals scored this term, Brighton have lacked a cutting edge but in 5-goal, Glenn Murray they have a striker with a wealth of Premier League experience.
Spurs look in decent nick – especially at home and should have too much for the Seagulls.
Betting tip: Tottenham to win the match and over 2.5 goals in the game – as a double ($1.85) BET NOW
Tottenham to win 3-0
07:00 West Ham United vs Arsenal
West Ham United ($5.5)
West Ham have gambled on David Moyes and got their first win under the Scot last time out – a famous 1-0 win over Chelsea at the London Olympic Stadium whilst Arsene Wenger’s men have picked up 1 point from their last 2 games to fall off the pace in the Premier League title race and for the time being, their priority looks to be securing European football next season. The appointment of David Moyes was met with derision by the majority of West Ham fans but the former Everton man looks to have engineered a path to safety for the time being. The Hammers sit in 18th position – level on points with West Brom above them with 13 points to their name from 16 games. Arsene Wenger’s men have endured a difficult week domestically. A chastening 3-1 home defeat to Manchester United was followed by a laboured 1-1 draw at Southampton that has seen the Gunners fall 17 points behind Manchester City. With Europa League commitments on the back burner until February, Arsenal can now concentrate on improving on their current 5th place standing.
It promises to be a tasty encounter the Olympic Stadium which Arsenal should just about overcome.
