Manchester City were the big winners in game week 18 with an impressive win over Leicester City as they look to chase Liverpool at the top of the league. Elsewhere, Chelsea secured an excellent win over Tottenham whilst Watford picked up only their second win of the season over Manchester United. Southampton beat fellow strugglers Aston Villa whilst manager-less duo Everton and Arsenal shared a goalless draw at Goodison Park.
Here are our picks for the 19th round of fixtures in the Premier League:
2019/20 EPL Week 19 Preview
Tottenham vs Brighton – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Two sides looking to bounce back from home defeats open the program on Boxing Day as Tottenham host Brighton. Jose Mourinho’s Spurs were disappointing in defeat to Chelsea last time out and they will be eager to bounce back in front of their home fans. With Champions League progress assured, they will be focusing solely on the Premier League for the time being and they will want to improve on their 7th place standing. Meanwhile, Brighton have enjoyed a decent season but fell to a disappointing defeat to Sheffield United last time out. The Seagulls have impressed at times during this season under Graham Potter but they can’t seem to fully detach themselves from the relegation scrap just yet. They sit 13th and will have one eye over their shoulder currently. Brighton carry plenty of goal threats but Tottenham shouldn’t have any issues here.

Tottenham to win 3-1
Aston Villa vs Norwich City – Villa Park
Aston Villa ($2.15)
Two sides immersed in the relegation battle face off in the West Midlands as Aston Villa host Norwich City. Dean Smith’s Aston Villa will be hoping to make home advantage count as they slipped into the dreaded drop zone following a poor defeat to fellow strugglers Southampton last time out. Norwich meanwhile reside in 19th and look doomed already this term. The Canaries have struggled with consistency this season and find themselves in huge trouble just 12 points to their name. The manner of their defeat to Wolves last time out was particularly disheartening and they need a response here. This could be a very tight game but Villa could prevail in front of their passionate home support.
Betting tip: Aston Villa to win the match ($2.15) Bet Now
Aston Villa to win 1-0
Bournemouth vs Arsenal – Vitality Stadium
Two sides in desperate need of a win face off on the South Coast as Bournemouth host Arsenal. The Cherries have struggled with consistency for the majority of the season and following a defeat to Burnley last time out, only find themselves one point above the drop zone currently. Arsenal meanwhile have replaced Unai Emery with Mikel Arteta and they look set to attempt to rebuild this season. The Gunners are 11th in the table, with a mere 23 points to their name and they need to start picking up points fast if European football is to be on the agenda next season. Goals look guaranteed here and it could well end up being a winning start for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal.
Betting tip: Arsenal to win the match and both teams to score ($2.95) Bet Now
Arsenal to win 2-1
Chelsea vs Southampton – Stamford Bridge
Two sides that picked up impressive away wins before Christmas will be looking to continue their form on Boxing Day. Chelsea dominated at Spurs on Sunday and they will be hoping to return to form at Stamford Bridge after losing to Bournemouth in their last home fixture. Defensively Frank Lampard can’t seem to consistently find the correct formula and the blues are sure to be put to the test here. The Saints have picked up three big wins over fellow strugglers Norwich, Watford and Aston Villa in recent weeks and have climbed out of the relegation zone as a result. They could be put under pressure here from the outset and Chelsea should prevail in front of home support here.
Betting tip: Chelsea to win the match and both teams to score ($1.95) Bet Now
Chelsea to win 3-1
Crystal Palace vs West Ham United – Selhurst Park
Crystal Palace ($2.3)
West Ham United ($3.3)
An eagerly anticipated London Derby awaits at Selhurst Park as Crystal Palace host West Ham United. The Eagles fell to a disappointing defeat at Newcastle last time out and have slipped down to 12th as a result. For West Ham meanwhile, they should benefit from a week off last time out but they have fallen away in recent weeks and find themselves in 16th. This should be a fantastic fixture between two exciting teams and it could well end up honours even in East London.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.56) Bet Now
Everton vs Burnley – Goodison Park
Carlo Ancelotti’s first game in charge sees his Everton side host Burnley at Goodison Park. Everton have picked up some impressive results under the stewardship of Duncan Ferguson and they have picked up 5 points from their last three games against Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea. The Clarets meanwhile have been faring well in the Premier League this season and they have won their last two games to climb up to 10th in the Premier League table. The manner of their win at Bournemouth last time out was impressive and they have been playing some of their best stuff on the road. This should be a very tight game between two well matched sides but Everton could just have the edge at home.
Betting tip: Everton to win the match and both teams to score ($2.65) Bet Now
Everton to win 2-1
Sheffield United vs Watford – Bramall Lane
Sheffield United ($1.87)
Two sides operating at opposite sides of the table face off at Bramall Lane as Sheffield United host Watford. The Blades have been in fine form all season under Chris Wilder and they look to be assured of Premier League safety even at this early stage. With a unique style of play, they have been more than a match for every opponent they have come across this term and find themselves in 5th position in the table after beating Brighton on Saturday. Bottom of the table Watford meanwhile will hope to kick on from their famous win over Manchester United last time out and with Nigel Pearson having been drafted in to steady the ship; the Hornets look to have a survival plan in place. This should be a tighter game than many expect but Sheffield United should just about pick up the three points.
Betting tip: Sheffield United to win the match and both teams to score ($2.65) Bet Now
Sheffield United to win 2-1
Manchester United vs Newcastle United – Old Trafford
Manchester United ($1.38)
Newcastle United ($10)
Manchester United will be looking to bounce back from their humbling defeat at Watford as they take on Newcastle. Both sides go into the game on 25 points from their 18 games played, with Manchester United winless in their last two games, drawing with Everton and losing to Watford. Inconsistency continues to blight the reds this season and they will be hoping to kick on over Christmas. Steve Bruce’s Newcastle meanwhile are one of the form sides in the division and their win over Crystal Palace on Saturday epitomised the incredible run they have been on. Premier League safety looks assured already and they will have designs of a top half finish. Manchester United have been struggling for consistency but they should have too much about them for Newcastle at home.

Manchester United to win 2-1
Leicester City vs Liverpool – King Power Stadium
Leicester City ($3.7)
Second host first in the Premier League table as World Champions Liverpool take on Leicester City. Liverpool clinched the world title in Qatar on Saturday and will be looking to return to the Premier League to preserve their 10 point lead over the Foxes and the rest of the chasing pack. Leicester City meanwhile have dropped points in their last 2 fixtures and were well beaten by Manchester City last time out. They are very much in the race for top 4 football however and they will be hoping to create a difficult atmosphere for the reds here. This is the highlight fixture of the weekend and Liverpool should just prevail here in what could be a Premier League classic.
Betting tip: Liverpool to win the match and both teams to score ($2.95) Bet Now
Liverpool to win 2-1
Wolves vs Manchester City – Molineux
Manchester City ($1.41)
Third placed Manchester City travel to sixth place Wolves in as they look for revenge for their defeat to Nuno Esporito Santo’s side earlier in the season. Wolves produced a superb comeback to beat Norwich last time out and continue to go from strength to strength in the Premier League. With Europa League progress assured, they can focus solely on finishing as high as possible and Champions League football doesn’t look beyond them currently. Manchester City meanwhile look to have found their rhythm once more after a brief blip and their performance against Leicester last weekend was a very impressive one. They have struggled for consistency at times this season and they will be hoping to string some points together over Christmas. This should be a very tight game at Molineux but the blues should come through and register three important points.
