The inaugural Premier League winter break truncates the fixture schedule heading into week 26 of the schedule but with Liverpool possessing a 22-point lead at the top of the pile, it looks to be a forgone conclusion as to the destination of the title this year. Manchester City and Leicester dropped points once more in pursuit of Jurgen Klopp’s side in game week 25 whilst at the bottom of table Bournemouth picked up a crucial win over Aston Villa in their survival bid.
Here are our picks for the 26th round of fixtures in the EPL:
2019/20 EPL Week 26 Preview
Everton vs Crystal Palace – Goodison Park
Crystal Palace ($6)
Two sides looking to consolidate in the top half of the table face off on Merseyside as Crystal Palace travel to Everton. Everton picked up a memorable comeback win at Watford last time out and look to have consolidated their league position. The Toffees sit 9th and look to be riding the crest of a wave currently, well clear of the relegation scrap and surely with one eye on European football next term. Crystal Palace meanwhile have struggled with consistency all season and their most recent defeat to Southampton and Sheffield United were testament to that. The Eagles have slipped to 14th in the table and despite sitting 6 points above the bottom 3, they will be eager to start picking up points quickly in order to avoid being sucked into a dogfight. This could be a very tight encounter at Goodison Park which Everton should just about prevail from.

Everton to win 2-1
Brighton vs Watford – AMEX Stadium
Two sides gripped in relegation strife face off on the South Coast as Brighton host Watford. Brighton fought back to earn a point at West Ham last weekend but find themselves in 15th, only two points above the drop zone and Graham Potter will be hoping his side can kick on over the final third of the season with top flight survival the absolute priority currently. For Watford, the situation has been more desperate for a while. Initial improvements made under Nigel Pearson continue to manifest and they have briefly been out of the bottom three, but they sit 19th following heart-breaking losses to Aston Villa and Everton and their survival battle looks set to rage on this term. Both sides play excellent football on their day and this could be a tight encounter at the AMEX that ends honours even.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw and both teams to score ($4.35) Bet Now
Sheffield United vs Bournemouth – Bramall Lane
Sheffield United ($1.7)
Bournemouth will be hoping to ignite their survival bid as they travel up to South Yorkshire to take on Sheffield United. The Blades continue to impress and the manner of their win at Crystal Palace last weekend was testament to their progress in the Premier League this season. They sit 6th, with a realistic chance of finishing in the top 6 come the end of the season and European football potentially beckons next term. The Cherries had endured a rotten spell, which saw them lose to West Ham, Norwich City and Watford in recent weeks, but they have bounced back in style in their last two league games, beating Aston Villa and Brighton. They sit 16th and have had plenty of experience in generating runs to pull away from trouble during their Premier League tenure and they will be hoping to implement that here in what could be a very difficult fixture. This could be tighter than people think at Bramall Lane and Bournemouth could well pick up a point on the road. #

Manchester City vs West Ham United – Etihad Stadium
Manchester City ($1.1)
West Ham United ($24)
Defending champions Manchester City host West Ham as the blues look to bounce back from yet another loss last time out. City dominated proceedings against Tottenham last weekend, but a glut of missed chances proved costly as they went down 2-0 to Jose Mourinho’s men. The result leaves Pep Guardiola’s side 22 points behind Liverpool in pursuit of their 3rd consecutive Premier League title and they look to be playing for 2nd place at this stage. They still have 3 other trophies to fight for and team selection could be reflected in that here. The Hammers meanwhile have been blighted by inconsistency all season and despite the arrival of David Moyes, results continue to frustrate their fans. They slipped into the bottom three after letting a 2-goal lead slip at home to Brighton last time out and many of the home faithful voiced their frustration. Defensively, they continue to concede too many goals and that could be costly against a City side that will be eager to prove a point here.
