Following another thumping win in midweek, Manchester City look to be running away with the Premier League title – as Manchester United and Leicester City dropped points once more. The blues now sit 14 points clear after beating Wolves and have their destiny very much in their own hands with only 11 games to play. Sheffield United haven’t given up the ghost yet, following their win over Aston Villa whilst the likes of Fulham and West Bromwich Albion are still fighting for their lives too.
Here are our picks for the next round of fixtures in the EPL:
Premier League Week 27 Preview
Burnley vs Arsenal – Turf Moor
Burnley host another big side at Turf Moor as Arsenal will be looking to take their impressive form to Lancashire. The Clarets bounced back well from defeat to Tottenham by picking up an impressive point at home to Leicester last time out – a game they may feel they could have won. With a 6-point gap to the relegation zone, they will be all too aware of the need to keep picking up points too. Arsenal meanwhile come into this one fresh off the back of a superb win at Leicester and they will be dreaming of a top 6 finish this term. Mikel Arteta’s side look full of confidence once more and they should have too much about them for Burnley here.
Betting tip: Arsenal to win the match ($1.66) Bet @ Sportsbet
Arsenal to win 2-1
Sheffield United vs Southampton – Bramall Lane
Sheffield United ($3.9)
Bottom of the table Sheffield United will know it is now or never as they take on Southampton. The Blades are 12 points adrift in their survival bid but their win over Aston Villa last time out is sure to bring about cause for optimism. Southampton meanwhile are in the midst of an 8-match winless streak and look to be folding after an impressive start to the campaign. Everton had too much for them on Monday night and they will want to bounce back quickly here. This could be a very tight game with a draw looking the most likely outcome at Bramall Lane.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.62) Bet @ Sportsbet
Aston Villa vs Wolves – Villa Park
Aston Villa ($2.5)
A West Midlands Derby promises to be a cracker as Aston Villa take on Wolves. The Villains have been in superb nick this season but their defeat to Sheffield United last time out was a reality check for Dean Smith’s side. Villa sit 9th but should they win their games in hand, they could feature in the European mix come the end of the campaign. Wolves meanwhile are a side in poor form and although they were plucky at Manchester City, they were comprehensively beaten. Nuno Esporito Santo’s men sit 12th, and they will want to push into the top half come the end of the season. This could be a very tight affair at Villa Park, but the home side could well come out on top.
Betting tip: Aston Villa to win the match ($2.5) Bet @ Sportsbet
Aston Villa to win 2-1
Brighton vs Leicester City – AMEX Stadium
Leicester City ($2.98)
Leicester City will be hoping to keep their top 4 dreams alive as they travel to Brighton. It has been a tough period for the Seagulls, who are still immersed in the relegation mix. They have a three-point cushion on the sides below them and need to keep picking up points to avoid being dragged into the mix. Leicester meanwhile are struggling for consistency of late and have seen their starting XI ripped apart by injuries of late. The Foxes sit 3rd and have their top 4 destiny in their own hands, and they will be keen to avoid a repeat of last season’s combustion. This should be an excellent game between two entertaining sides, but Leicester should get the job done in this one.
Betting tip: Leicester City to win the match ($2.98) Bet @ Sportsbet
Leicester City to win 2-1
West Bromwich Albion vs Newcastle United – The Hawthorns
West Bromwich Albion ($2.5)
Newcastle United ($3.13)
West Bromwich Albion will be looking to continue their survival bid as they host Newcastle in a textbook relegation 6-pointer. The Baggies have been plucky under Sam Allardyce without picking up the results and they are in danger of slipping out of the Premier League. They sit 9-points behind Newcastle heading into this one, but they know a win here would blow open the race to avoid the drop. Newcastle meanwhile are a side in flux, with rumours of discontent in the dressing room and they only sit 3-points above the drop zone – making this a huge fixture. With so much to play for, this could be a cagey affair and a draw looks the most likely result.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.3) Bet @ Sportsbet
Liverpool vs Fulham – Anfield
Defending Champions Liverpool now look to have a battle on their hands to finish in the top 4 as they take on relegation threatened Fulham. The reds were well beaten by Chelsea in midweek and are now scrapping to secure a top 4 finish next term. They face a Fulham side full of confidence of late and fighting for their lives. The Cottagers are 18th in the table and will have felt hard done by to lose out to Tottenham in midweek. Liverpool are low on confidence and Fulham will be hoping to exploit that, but the reds should have too much quality in key areas here.
Betting tip: Liverpool to win the match ($1.39) Bet @ Sportsbet
Liverpool to win 2-0
Manchester City vs Manchester United – Etihad Stadium
Manchester City ($1.56)
Manchester United ($7)
The Manchester Derby is the headline fixture of the weekend, with City looking to put the final nail in United’s coffin with regards their title aspirations. City have won 21 games in all competitions and look to have confidence flowing through every member of their squad. They welcome their arch-rivals who sit 14 points adrift in the title race and need to start clawing back points quickly. United were abject in their draw on the road at Crystal Palace but how they would love to spoil the party here. This could be a very tight game and with so much on the line, it could well end up as a draw at the Etihad.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($4.5) Bet @ Sportsbet
Tottenham vs Crystal Palace – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Crystal Palace ($7.8)
Another London Derby of sorts is on the cards as Tottenham host Crystal Palace. Spurs have improved dramatically in the past week and now look to be very much in the mix for a top 4 finish. Jose Mourinho has plenty of attacking options at his disposal and he looks to have found the solution currently. They welcome a Palace side that have been finding their rhythm of late, which was epitomised by their superb point at home to Manchester United in midweek. They do tend to play their best football away from home, but Tottenham should have too much fire power for the Eagles here.
Betting tip: Tottenham to win the match ($1.49) Bet @ Sportsbet
Tottenham to win 3-1
Chelsea vs Everton – Stamford Bridge
Two sides very much in the mix for a top 4 Premier League finish face off as Chelsea host Everton. Thomas Tuchel has had an instant impact at the Bridge and their 1-0 win over Liverpool in midweek was testament to their new found stability. They currently sit 4th and look to have the momentum heading into the final few weeks of the season. Everton meanwhile are growing in confidence and will also have European football aspirations this term. Back to back wins over Southampton and West Brom showed their grit in the past week and they will be eager to showcase their talents here. This could be an entertaining game which Chelsea look to have the initiative for and they should pick up a vital win here.
Betting tip: Chelsea to win the match ($1.6) Bet @ Sportsbet
Chelsea to win 3-1
West Ham United vs Leeds – London Olympic Stadium
West Ham United ($2.12)
Two sides that have impressed all season in the Premier League face off as West Ham welcome Leeds. The Hammers are flying high in 6th and were very unlucky not to take anything from their visit to Manchester City last time out. They have been in fine form, particularly at home and this is a big game in their season. Leeds meanwhile have been a breath of fresh air in the Premier League this term, but their inconsistency has marred their campaign at times. They sit 11th and look to be settling for a mid-table finish but a win here could see them climb up into the top half of the table. This should be a superb game between two excellent sides, with West Ham most likely to clinch all three points.
Betting tip: West Ham United to win the match ($2.12) Bet @ Sportsbet
West Ham United to win 3-1
