Attention returns to the Premier League picture this weekend as the title race looks to be all but done for this season. Manchester City sit 16 points clear of the chasing pack and despite their pain-staking FA Cup defeat to Wigan, look well placed to clinch their 3rd Premier League title. Manchester United lost to Newcastle last time out, a result that will enthuse the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea who are all hot on the heels of Mourinho’s men.
The relegation scrap is also hotting up with West Bromwich Albion in danger of being cut adrift at the bottom of the league and only a handful of points currently separating the teams in the bottom half of the table.
Here are our picks for the twenty-eighth round of fixtures in the Premier League:
23:30 Leicester City vs Stoke City – King Power Stadium
Leicester City ($1.75)
Stoke City ($5.5)
With FA Cup progress assured, Leicester turn their attention back to Premier League matters and they will be eager to bounce back from their 5-1 thumping at Manchester City last time out. Paul Lambert is yet to have the comprehensive approach Stoke fans may well have been hoping for and the Potters are very much in the relegation picture with only 11 games still to play. Claude Puel is going through a sticky period with the Foxes, who despite being 8th in the Premier League table, haven’t won in their last 3 Premier League games. However, they are very much in with an outside chance of playing European football next season and with FA Cup progress secured, they can put all of their attention into improving their Premier League position. Paul Lambert hasn’t hit the ground running in Staffordshire and the Scot looks to have his work cut out in order to propel Stoke away from the relegation picture. The Potters currently sit 19th in the table, with 25 points from 27 games and are currently 2 points adrift in the bottom three. This looks to be a close match up between two attacking teams with Leicester possessing the superior quality on paper.
Betting tip: Leicester City to win the match and both teams to score ($3.75) BET NOW
Leicester City to win 2-1
02:00 Bournemouth vs Newcastle United – Vitality Stadium
Newcastle United ($3.65)
Newcastle United fans are facing one of the longest journeys in English football as they trek down South to face Eddie Howe’s resurgent Bournemouth with both teams in pursuit of crucial points in their respective fights to pull away from the drop zone. The Cherries had been in fine form in the Premier League and were unbeaten in their previous 7 league matches before their 4-1 chastening at Huddersfield last time out. That is the only blotch on their copy book in the Premier League in 2018 as Eddie Howe’s men sit 10th in the table with 31 points and Premier League safety looks a very achievable goal currently. The Toon have lacked consistency all season and as a result find themselves only 2 points above the relegation zone but look to be buoyed by their famous 1-0 victory over Manchester United last time out. 28 points from 27 games isn’t the return Rafa Benitez would have hoped for at the start of the season but Premier League safety has become the absolute priority for Newcastle currently. Both sides need the points in order to further pull away from the relegation picture and they will both be keen to not be beaten.
Betting tip: The match to end as a draw and both teams to score ($4.5) BET NOW
02:00 Brighton vs Swansea City – AMEX Stadium
Stoke City ($4.15)
Two teams immersed in the relegation picture face off on Saturday afternoon following their respective FA Cup exploits last time out. Brighton have progressed to the last 8 of the cup whilst Swansea will need to negotiate a replay with Sheffield Wednesday in order to book their place in the next round. With the Premier League back on the agenda, this is a huge game for both sides. Chris Hughton’s men continue to defy the odds in the Premier League and despite only sitting 2 points above the relegation zone, they look well up for the scrap this term. Following their 1-1 draw at Stoke last time out, the Seagulls have 28 points from their opening 27 games and sit 14th in the table. Carlos Carvahal has had an instant impact at the Liberty Stadium – only losing one of his 11 games in charge so far in all competitions. With his side still in the FA Cup, he has overseen a transformation at the club, epitomised by their current league standing of 16th – although they are only one point above the drop zone. Both sides need the points in order to further pull away from the relegation picture and they will both be keen to not be beaten.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw and both teams to score ($5) BET NOW
02:00 Burnley vs Southampton – Turf Moor
Few would have envisaged Southampton being involved in a relegation scrap at the start of the season but they travel to Burnley in desperate need of points as the business end of the season approaches. Burnley have been in fantastic form all season under Sean Dyche and despite results tailing off a little in recent weeks, the Clarets look well set for another season of Premier League football. The Clarets have enjoyed an amazing first half of the season and sit 7th with only 11 games remaining and they have a remarkable 36 points to their name. They are however, without a win in their last 11 matches in all competitions and their defeat to Swansea last time out left Sean Dyche fuming. The Saints find themselves in the relegation zone and their uninspiring performance against Liverpool last time out was concerning for all connected to the club. 26 points from 27 games isn’t the ideal return for a team of the Saints’ quality but Mauricio Pellegrino will be looking to secure Premier League safety as a priority – currently in 18th position, one point from safety. Southampton look low on confidence and could find Burnley a tough nut to crack on their travels

Burnley to win 1-0
02:00 Liverpool vs West Ham United – Anfield
West Ham United ($15)
Jurgen Klopp’s in form reds welcome David Moyes’s inconsistent West Ham side to Anfield on Saturday afternoon with both sides in desperate need of points for very different reasons. West Ham have improved dramatically under Moyes but can’t quite seem to fully pull away from the relegation zone whilst Liverpool sit in the Champions League places currently and will be eager to stay there for the duration of the season. The Reds have been in great form in recent weeks and look to have kicked on despite their dip in form back in January – epitomised by their impressive 5-0 win at Porto in the Champions League during the week. Jurgen Klopp has guided his men to 3rd in the Premier League table, with 54 points from their opening 27 games and they have only lost three times in the league all season. David Moyes has overseen a real transformation at the London Olympic Stadium and they have risen to 12th in the table but such is the congestion at the bottom of the table, they are only 4 points above the relegation places. Their comfortable 2-0 win over Watford last time out was another big stride towards Premier League safety for the Hammers who have 30 points from their 27 games played. West Ham won’t be targeting games like this to stay in the division and Liverpool should put them away with ease.
Betting tip: Liverpool to win the match with a -2.5 Asian Handicap ($2.63) BET NOW
Liverpool to win 3-0
02:00 West Bromwich Albion vs Huddersfield Town – The Hawthorns
West Bromwich Albion ($2.05)
Huddersfield Town ($5)
West Bromwich Albion host Huddersfield as they look to put the trials and tribulations of another difficult week behind them in their quest to pull away from the relegation zone. The Baggies are in danger of being cut adrift at the bottom of the pile in the Premier League and Huddersfield will be keen to strike a decisive blow in the battle to avoid the drop. Languishing at the bottom of the table and 7 points from safety, Alan Pardew will have to pull off the great escape to ensure the Baggies are a Premier League team next season.
West Brom have only won 3 Premier League games this season and have collected 20 points from their opening 27 games – a tally that needs drastic improvement and they are now out of the FA Cup too. The Terriers had slipped into the relegation zone in the Premier League before their 4-1 thumping of Bournemouth last time out and they are currently 17th in the standings, with 27 points to their name.
David Wagner’s men have only once in the Premier League in 2018 and following their FA Cup defeat to Manchester United, Premier League safety is now the priority. This is a huge game for both clubs and losing is not an option, especially not for West Bromwich Albion currently.

04:30 Watford vs Everton – Vicarage Road
Javi Gracia is looking to stop the slide at Watford as his Hornets welcome Everton to North London. Both sides are in need of points with the relegation picture changing on a weekly basis and this has the makings of a six-pointer in the middle of the table. Everton have shown glimpses under Sam Allardyce but heavy defeats on the road of late have checked their progress somewhat. Marco Silva had a fantastic start to the season with the Hornets but a barren run over the festive period ultimately cost the Portuguese manager his job and Javi Gracia has been brought in to steady the ship. Watford sit 11th in the table with 30 points but only have a 3 point gap between themselves and the relegation zone so need to start picking up points quickly. Sam Allardyce hasn’t been able to continue the boost he initially gave the club when he arrived late in 2017 – although they managed to squeeze past Crystal Palace last time out. The Toffees are out of all cup competitions and sit 9th in the table with 11 games still to play – they are only 8 points above the relegation places however and will be feeling the need to get points on the board. This is a huge game for both clubs and losing is not an option, especially not for Watford currently.

23:00 Crystal Palace vs Tottenham – Selhurst Park
Crystal Palace ($8)
Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs face a fixture congestion problem as they continue to fight on three fronts. They are 20 points off the pace in the Premier League which has forced their hand to concentrate on Champions League qualification whilst they remain in the FA Cup and Champions League. They will be fully aware of the threats Palace pose, especially with home support behind them. Crystal Palace have been one of the form teams in the division – only losing three times in their last 16 Premier League matche and they have climbed to 15th in the table as a result. Such was their disastrous start to the campaign, that they still only sit 1 point above the relegation zone and are very much in relegation contention. Tottenham sit in 5th place in the Premier League, 1 point outside of the Champions League places with 11 league games still to play and recent wins over Arsenal and Manchester United have lifted the mood at Wembley. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have been in sensational form in the Champions League this season having picked up a 2-2 draw in Juventus but they were checked back against Rochdale in the FA Cup. Palace need points in their relegation scrap but Spurs have been in good form of late and should have too much quality.
Betting tip: Tottenham to win the match and both teams to score ($3.3) BET NOW
Tottenham to win 2-1
01:05 Manchester United vs Chelsea – Old Trafford
Manchester United ($2.3)
Champions League qualification is at the forefront of minds at Old Trafford on Sunday as Chelsea arrive in Salford looking to blow open the race for second place in the league. United have struggled for consistency in recent weeks but in a game that pits Jose Mourinho against Antonio Conte, it’s sure to be a fire-cracker between two of the biggest teams in the league. The reds have struggled in the league in recent weeks, dropping points at Tottenham and Newcastle, results that have left them 16 points behind Manchester City in the table. With 56 points from 27 games they sit 2nd in the table and with the FA Cup and Champions League trophies looking easier targets, Mourinho could direct his attention there rather than at the league. The wheels are in danger of falling off for Chelsea this season – having fallen off the pace in the Premier League, they will be prioritising the Champions League and the FA Cup this season. The Blues sit 4th in the Premier League table with 53 points from their opening 27 games and with 11 games to go, have a 19 point deficit to claw back on Manchester City and need to prioritise getting into a position to play Champions League football next season.
Both sides need points in the chase for Champions League football and it should be a fantastic game.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw and both teams to score ($4.5) BET NOW
06:45 Arsenal vs Manchester City – Emirates Stadium
Manchester City ($1.9)
The first trophy of the season is up for grabs at Wembley on Sunday as Manchester City and Arsenal face off in what promises to be a massive game for both sides. Arsenal will be targeting this and the Europa League as their only trophy possibilities whilst City, with the Premier League seemingly wrapped up, fell to third-tier Wigan in the FA Cup and will be keen to bounce back here. As a result, this fixture has been moved to Thursday evening in what promises to be a fantastic spectacle – so soon after the pair meet in the cup final. The inconsistencies within Arsenal’s season have been alarming all campaign and as a result they have struggled to make an impact in any competition, with the Carabao Cup and Europa League the only exceptions. The Gunners remain 6th – 5 points off the top 4 (with Chelsea still to play this week) in the Premier League and have work to do to be playing Champions League football next term but they are always a threat.
There looks to be no stopping City in the Premier League at the moment who currently sit 16 points clear as Pep Guardiola looks to break his trophy duck at Manchester City. Their FA Cup defeat to Wigan has blown their quadruple hopes but they are still one of the top teams in the country.
This could be one of the showpiece games of the season and City should possess just a little too much big game knowledge for Arsenal.
