2019/20 EPL Week 30 Preview

Aston Villa vs Sheffield United – Villa Park

Aston Villa ($3.4)

Sheffield United ($2.35)

Draw ($3.4)

Kicking off proceedings in the Premier League is Aston Villa vs Sheffield United. The Villains are in deep relegation and they will be looking to make the most of this game in hand. Despite a run to the Carabao Cup final, Dean Smith’s have struggled for form all season and the manner of their 4-0 loss at the King Power Stadium prior to lockdown was concerning. They do however only sit 2 points from safety and with a game in hand, they still have their fate in their own hands. European football chasing Sheffield United will be looking to make sure they kick on between now and the end of the campaign. The Blades sit 7th, 5 points off the top 4 and with this being their game in hand, they will be confident of making a late charge. They have also progressed to the last 8 of the FA Cup and the confidence within Chris Wilder’s squad could not be higher. Sheffield United are a well-drilled side and they should prevail here at Aston Villa.

Betting tip: Sheffield United to win the match ($2.35) Bet Now

Sheffield United to win 2-1

Manchester City vs Arsenal vs – Etihad Stadium

Manchester City ($1.37)

Arsenal ($8.75)

Draw ($5.75)

Carabao Cup winners Manchester City will be keen to pick up momentum as they welcome Arsenal to the Etihad Stadium. The blues remain 2nd in the table but with a 25-point gap to Liverpool at the top of the table, the title race seems to be all but over. Whilst their title defence seems to be over, they still have the FA Cup and Champions League to play for and with plenty of big names returning from injury, they could be back with a vengeance between now and the end of the season. Arsenal have been a team reborn under Mikel Arteta and they will be targeting this game in hand as a potentially huge fixture in their challenge for the top 4. Arsenal will push City all the way, but the blues should have too much about them at home for the Gunners.

Betting tip: Manchester City to win the match and both teams to score ($1.95) Bet Now

Manchester City to win 2-1

Norwich City vs Southampton – Carrow Road

Norwich City ($3.3)

Southampton ($2.2)

Draw ($3.75)

For Norwich, it is now or never in the Premier League and they will be looking for three points as they welcome Southampton to East Anglia. Following their defeat to Sheffield United in their last fixture, the Canaries are 6 points adrift at the foot of the table and their stay in the Premier League looks to be coming to an end sooner rather than later unless things dramatically change. Their home form has been their major positive this season and they will see this as a winnable fixture. Southampton meanwhile will be looking to continue to further themselves from the relegation scrap and extend their 8-point cushion above the drop zone. They will be looking for the all-important next couple of wins that should see them mathematically safe and this should be a tight game in East Anglia and the spoils could well be shared.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.75) Bet Now

1-1 Draw

Tottenham vs Manchester United – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Tottenham ($2.8)

Manchester United ($2.6)

Draw ($3.6)

Spurs will be looking to kick on between now and the end of the season as they welcome Manchester United to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Jose Mourinho saw his side crash out of the FA Cup and Champions League prior to lockdown and his side now only have the Premier League to play for. Spurs sit 8th, 7 points off top 4 football and with Harry Kane back, they will be hopeful of finding some form. Manchester United meanwhile should arrive in London buoyant following their incredible 2-0 derby win over Manchester City last time out and they look set to challenge for top 4 football this term. The Reds are still fighting on 3 fronts and they look to have their sights set on a trophy this season. This could be a particularly interesting encounter with so many narratives and it could well end up being a draw in North London.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.6) Bet Now

1-1 Draw

Watford vs Leicester City – Vicarage Road

Watford ($3.4)

Leicester City ($2.2)

Draw ($3.6)

Watford’s survival bid continues as they welcome high-flying Leicester to North London. Nigel Pearson has masterminded a great escape of sorts so far for the Hornets, with the highlight being their famous win over Liverpool. They are currently out of the relegation zone on goal difference however and with 9 games to play, the job is certainly not done yet. Leicester City meanwhile arrested their slide in style last time out with an excellent win over Aston Villa at the King Power Stadium. The Foxes remain 3rd in the table, with an 8-point cushion to Manchester United in 5th but with only one win in their last 5 games, they need to finalise their place in the top 4. Their away form has been a real concern in recent games and with Watford strong at home, this could be an entertaining draw in North London.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.6) Bet Now

1-1 Draw

Brighton vs Arsenal vs – AMEX Stadium

Brighton ($3.6)

Arsenal ($2.17)

Draw ($3.5)

Brighton will be looking to continue to climb away from the bottom three as they welcome Arsenal to the South Coast. The Seagulls are slipping into the relegation picture having not won a league game since December and they only two points above the drop zone currently. They do tend to play their best football at home however and they should take the game to Arsenal here. Playing two games in 5 days could stretch a relatively thin Arsenal squad but they will be confident of being able to cope with the rigours of the Premier League. They sit 5 points off Manchester United in 5th and they will be all too aware that they need to win games such as these if they want to challenge for the top 4. Brighton will push Arsenal all the way, but confidence looks high in the Arsenal camp and they should come through this test.

Betting tip: Arsenal to win the match and both teams to score ($3.25) Bet Now

Arsenal to win 2-1

West Ham United vs Wolves – London Olympic Stadium

West Ham United ($3.6)

Wolves ($2.25)

Draw ($3.45)

West Ham’s survival bid will come into the spotlight as they take on Wolves at the London Olympic Stadium. The Hammers have endured a disappointing campaign so far and they find themselves out of the relegation zone on goal difference alone. The arrival of David Moyes has had mixed results at the London Olympic Stadium, and they look to have a big task on their hands if they are to avoid the drop this term. Wolves meanwhile continue to fight on two fronts and with progress to the last 16 of the Europa League secured, it could be a superb season for Nuno Esporito Santo’s men. They are currently 6th in the table, 5 points behind Chelsea in 4th and they will be confident of catching up with some of the bigger names above them. This should be a really good game between two sides with plenty to play for and a draw looks on the cards in East London.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.45) Bet Now

1-1 Draw

Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace – Vitality Stadium

Bournemouth ($2.55)

Crystal Palace ($3)

Draw ($3.3)

Bournemouth will be looking to climb away from the bottom three as they welcome Crystal Palace to the Vitality Stadium. The Cherries can’t seem to pull away from relegation trouble and sit in the drop zone, despite a reasonable run of form prior to lockdown. Eddie Howe’s side have been hamstrung with injuries this season and they will be hoping to benefit from the enforced mid-season break. Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace meanwhile were in great form before the hiatus, winning their last 3 games. They have climbed to 11th in the table and are knocking on the door of the top half and with 39 points to their name, their Premier League status looks secure for another year. This could be a very tight game between two well-matched sides and a draw looks inevitable.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.3) Bet Now

0-0 Draw

Newcastle United vs Sheffield United – St James’s Park

Newcastle United ($3.5)

Sheffield United ($2.38)

Draw ($3.2)

Two sides enjoying excellent seasons face off on Tyneside as Newcastle welcome Sheffield United to St James’s Park. The Toon have been in decent form all season under Steve Bruce and they look to be well clear of the relegation picture currently. They have 35 points to their name and with an 8-point gap between themselves and the drop zone, they will be confident of playing top-flight football next term. With the Blades playing two games in just 5 days, it will be interesting to see how they fare, given that Chris Wilder’s side are revered as one of the fittest teams in the division. Games like this could prove vital for their European football push and they currently sit 7th, 5 points off the top 4. This should be an attritional encounter with both sides sure to not give an inch and a draw looks very much on the cards.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.2) Bet Now

1-1 Draw

Aston Villa vs Chelsea – Villa Park

Aston Villa ($6)

Chelsea ($1.58)

Draw ($4.5)

Aston Villa slide towards the Championship has been gradual and they will be looking to get a result here against Chelsea. Villa have lacked consistency all season, only winning 7 matches and they will be eager to make the most of these matches against the so called ‘bigger’ teams. They do however only sit 2 points from safety and with plenty of games still to be played, they have room for manoeuvre. Chelsea showed decent form in the league prior to lockdown with wins over Tottenham in the league and Liverpool in the FA Cup. They appear to have matters in their own hands currently and whilst they are sat in 4th, they appear to have sustainable top 4 credentials. Scoring goals is not the problem for the blues, it is very much defensively where they have struggled but they should have no issues against a faltering Villa side.

Betting tip: Chelsea to win the match and both teams to score ($2.3) Bet Now

Chelsea to win 3-1

Everton vs Liverpool – Goodison Park

Everton ($5.5)

Liverpool ($1.7)

Draw ($4.25)

A highly anticipated Merseyside Derby is part of the Premier League restart as Liverpool travel across Stanley Park to take on Everton. The Toffees were well beaten in the last game at Chelsea and have dropped to 12th in the table as a result but with the congestion in the table they are only 4 points behind Tottenham in 8th place. Dominic Calvert Lewin is leading the line with aplomb for the blues who are banging the goals in for fun, particularly at home. Liverpool meanwhile will be reeling from their FA Cup and Champions League exits as they will have to settle for just the one trophy this term. They have been much too good for all in front of them in the Premier League this term and whilst their unbeaten record disappeared in their last Premier League away game at Watford, they still have a points record that they are looking to set. Local derbies are often tasty affairs, but Liverpool should have too much about them here for Everton in key areas.

Betting tip: Liverpool to win the match and both teams to score ($2.6) Bet Now

Liverpool to win 2-1

Manchester City vs Burnley – Etihad Stadium

Manchester City ($1.17)

Burnley ($23)

Draw ($9)

Manchester City look to have the Premier League at the bottom of their list of priorities as they welcome Burnley to the Etihad. The blues were well beaten by local rivals Manchester United in their last game and look to have the Champions League and FA Cup on the mind currently. They still sit 2nd in the table and with question marks hanging over their place in next season’s Champions League, they don’t look to be prioritising a high league finish. Burnley, meanwhile, have won 4 their last 7 matches and have climbed up to 10th as a result – having been immersed in the relegation picture at the turn of the year. This will be a free hit for the Clarets, but City will be looking to find form with the league restart, and they could be fit and firing.
