Champions elect Liverpool got back to winning ways in the Premier league, despite an early scare at home to Bournemouth last time out and it looks as if the reds will only have one trophy to play for this term following their Champions League exit. Manchester United humbled rivals City to gain bragging rights in Salford whilst Tottenham dropped points once more in their quest for a top 4 finish at Burnley. Chelsea, Arsenal and Sheffield United all picked up excellent home wins as their respective bids for European football next season gather pace. At the bottom of the table, Aston Villa and Norwich continue to slide away whilst the need for points is also mounting up for the likes of West Ham, Bournemouth and Brighton.
Here are our picks for the 30th round of fixtures in the EPL:
2019/20 EPL Week 30 Preview
Watford vs Leicester City – Vicarage Road
Leicester City ($2.3)
Watford’s survival bid continues as they welcome high-flying Leicester to North London. Nigel Pearson has masterminded a great escape of sorts so far for the Hornets, with the highlight being their famous win over Liverpool. They are currently out of the relegation zone on goal difference however and with 9 games to play, the job is certainly not done yet. They couldn’t pick up anything on the road at Crystal Palace last time out and it looks as if it will be their home form that could save them. Leicester City meanwhile arrested their slide in style last time out with an excellent win over Aston Villa at the King Power Stadium. The Foxes remain 3rd in the table, with an 8-point cushion to Manchester United in 5th but with only one win in their last 5 games, they need to finalise their place in the top 4. Their away form has been a real concern in recent weeks and with Watford buoyant, this could be an entertaining draw in North London.

Brighton vs Arsenal vs – AMEX Stadium
Brighton will be looking to continue to climb away from the bottom three as they welcome Arsenal to the South Coast. The Seagulls are slipping into the relegation picture having not won a league game since December and they only two points above the drop zone following their hard-earned draw at Wolves last time out. They do tend to play their best football at home however and they should take the game to Arsenal here. Arsenal have been surrounded by coronavirus controversy this week and saw their game at Manchester City postponed as a result. The Gunners picked up a solid home win over West Ham on Saturday and with the Premier League and the FA Cup now becoming their priority, they could have a more focused approach come the end of the season. They sit 5 points off Manchester United in 5th and they will be all too aware that they need to win games such as these if they want to challenge for the top 4. Brighton will push Arsenal all the way, but confidence looks high in the Arsenal camp and they should come through this test.

Arsenal to win 2-1
Bournemouth vs Crystal Palace – Vitality Stadium
Crystal Palace ($3.15)
Bournemouth will be looking to climb away from the bottom three as they welcome Crystal Palace to Selhurst Park. The Cherries can’t seem to pull away from relegation trouble and sit in the relegation zone, despite a valiant effort on the road at Liverpool last weekend. Eddie Howe’s side have been hamstrung with injuries this season, but their goals return has been poor, and they will be hoping their passionate home support can pull them away from trouble this term. Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace meanwhile are in great form, having won their last 3 games. They have climbed to 11th in the table and are knocking on the door of the top half and with 39 points to their name, their Premier League status looks secure for another year. This could be a very tight game between two well-matched sides and a draw looks inevitable.

Manchester City vs Burnley – Etihad Stadium
Manchester City ($1.18)
Manchester City look to have the Premier League at the bottom of their list of priorities as they welcome Burnley to the Etihad. The blues were well beaten by local rivals Manchester United last time out and look to have the Champions League and FA Cup on the mind currently. They still sit 2nd in the table and with question marks hanging over their place in next season’s Champions League, they don’t look to be prioritising a high league finish. Burnley, meanwhile, have won 4 their last 7 matches and have climbed up to 10th as a result – having been immersed in the relegation picture at the turn of the year. They pushed Tottenham all the way at Turf Moor last time out, picking up a point and they look to be very resolute currently in all departments. This will be a free hit for the Clarets, but City will be rested following their midweek postponement against Arsenal and they could be fit and firing.

Manchester City to win 3-0
Newcastle United vs Sheffield United – St James’s Park
Newcastle United ($3.35)
Sheffield United ($2.55)
Two sides enjoying excellent seasons face off on Tyneside as Newcastle welcome Sheffield United to St James’s Park. The Toon have been in decent form all season under Steve Bruce and they look to be well clear of the relegation picture currently. They have 35 points to their name and with an 8-point gap between themselves and the drop zone, they will be confident of playing top-flight football next term. European football chasing Sheffield United got back to winning ways last time out at the expense of Norwich City and they look well set to go the distance this term. The Blades sit 7th, 5 points off the top 4 and with a game in hand, they will be confident of making a late charge. They have also progressed to the last 8 of the FA Cup and the confidence within Chris Wilder’s squad could not be higher. This should be an attritional encounter with both sides sure to not give an inch and a draw looks very much on the cards.

Norwich City vs Southampton – Carrow Road
Norwich City ($2.9)
For Norwich, it is now or never in the Premier League and they will be looking for three points as they welcome Southampton to East Anglia. Following their defeat to Sheffield United last weekend, the Canaries are 6 points adrift at the foot of the table and their stay in the Premier League looks to be coming to an end sooner rather than later unless things dramatically chance. Their home form has been their major positive this season and they will see this as a winnable fixture. Southampton meanwhile will be looking to continue to further themselves from the relegation scrap and extend their 8-point cushion above the drop zone. Consecutive defeats to West Ham and Newcastle has stalled their progress somewhat in recent weeks but they will be looking for the all-important next couple of wins that should see them mathematically safe. This should be a tight game in East Anglia and the spoils could well be shared.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.65) Bet Now
Aston Villa vs Chelsea – Villa Park
Aston Villa ($5.5)
Aston Villa’s slide into relegation trouble continued last time out as they were thumped on the road at Leicester and they will be looking for a response here against Chelsea. Despite a run to the Carabao Cup final, Dean Smith’s have struggled for form in recent weeks and the manner of their 4-0 loss at the King Power Stadium was concerning. They do however only sit 2 points from safety and with a game in hand, they still have their fate in their own hands. Chelsea responded well to their home defeat to Manchester United last month with wins over Tottenham in the league and Liverpool in the FA Cup. They then continued that excellent form with a superb win over Everton last time out to strengthen their top 4 credentials. Scoring goals is not the problem for the blues, it is very much defensively where they have struggled but they should have no issues against a faltering Villa side.
Betting tip: Chelsea to win the match and both teams to score ($2.45) Bet Now
Chelsea to win 3-1
West Ham United vs Wolves – London Olympic Stadium
West Ham United ($3)
West Ham’s survival bid will come into the spotlight as they take on Wolves as part of Super Sunday. The Hammers fell to a disappointing defeat on the road at Arsenal last time out and they find themselves out of the relegation zone on goal difference alone. The arrival of David Moyes has had mixed results at the London Olympic Stadium, and they look to have a big task on their hands if they are to avoid the drop this term. Wolves meanwhile continue to fight on two fronts and with progress to the last 16 of the Europa League secured, it could be a superb season for Nuno Esporito Santo’s men. Last weekend’s goalless draw with Brighton has left them 6th in the table, 5 points behind Chelsea in 4th and they will be confident of catching up with some of the bigger names above them. This should be a really good game between two sides with plenty to play for and a draw looks on the cards in East London.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.45) Bet Now
Tottenham vs Manchester United – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Manchester United ($2.25)
Spurs will be looking to put their disastrous run behind them as they welcome Manchester United to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Jose Mourinho has seen his side crash out of the FA Cup and Champions League in the past 7 days and with performance levels dwindling, it looks to be real crisis time in North London. Spurs sit 8th, 7 points off top 4 football and they will be desperate to appease their irate home fans here. Manchester United meanwhile arrive in London buoyant following their incredible 2-0 derby win over Manchester City and they look set to challenge for top 4 football this term. The Reds are still fighting on 3 fronts and they look to have their sights set on a trophy this season. This could be a particularly interesting encounter with so many narratives and it could well end up being a bore draw in North London.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.45) Bet Now
Everton vs Liverpool – Goodison Park
A highly anticipated Merseyside Derby concludes the Premier League programme as Liverpool travel across Stanley Park to take on Everton. The Toffees were well beaten last time out at Chelsea and have dropped to 12th in the table as a result but with the congestion in the table they are only 4 points behind Tottenham in 8th place. Dominic Calvert Lewin is leading the line with aplomb for the blues who are banging the goals in for fun, particularly at home. Liverpool meanwhile will be reeling from their FA Cup and Champions League exits as they will have to settle for just the one trophy this term. They have been much too good for all in front of them in the Premier League this term and whilst their unbeaten record disappeared in their last Premier League away game at Watford, they still have a points record that they are looking to set. Local derbies are often tasty affairs but Liverpool should have too much about them here for Everton in key areas.
