Leicester City grabbed the headlines on game week 3 in the Premier League, with their incredible 5-2 win at Manchester City – seemingly opening up the race for the title. Liverpool and Everton maintained their 100% starts – with wins over Arsenal and Crystal Palace respectively whilst VAR was at the centre of the debate once more in both Manchester United’s late win at Brighton and Newcastle’s last gasp draw with Tottenham. At the bottom of the table, Fulham and Sheffield United are still awaiting their first points at the bottom of the table and it promises to be a long season ahead for them.
Here are our picks for the next round of fixtures in the Premier League:
EPL Week 4 Tips
Chelsea vs Crystal Palace – Stamford Bridge
Crystal Palace ($8)
Two sides looking to bounce back from disappointing results last time out face off as Chelsea welcome Crystal Palace. The Blues have endured a tough week – drawing at West Bromwich Albion before crashing out of the Carabao Cup to Spurs – but Frank Lampard will be all too aware that the season is still young and his side have plenty of time to turn things around. Crystal Palace meanwhile suffered their first defeat of the season at home to Everton last time out and will want a response here. They tend to play their best football away from home, but this could be a big test and Chelsea should prevail here.
Betting tip: Chelsea to win the match and both teams to score ($2) – Bet @ Sportsbet
Chelsea to win 3-1
Everton vs Brighton – Goodison Park
There appears to be a real sense of optimism surrounding Everton as they look to continue their 100% start and welcome Brighton to town. With the likes of James Rodriguez in their side, the Toffees look to be blessed with flair options in key areas and a top 6 push could finally be on the cards for Carlo Ancelotti’s side this term. They have won every game played this season and look to be a side to watch. Brighton meanwhile suffered late heartbreak against Manchester United last time out in the league before losing to the Red Devils again in the Carabao Cup. The Seagulls look well placed to be clear of the relegation picture this season and will be targeting games such as this in their quest to pick up points. Brighton are a good side, but Everton are full of confidence and should win this one.
Betting tip: Everton to win the match ($1.8) – Bet @ Sportsbet
Everton to win 2-1
Leeds vs Manchester City – Elland Road
Manchester City ($1.37)
Promoted side Leeds will be looking to continue their impressive start to the season as they take on Manchester City. The whites have been in fine form all season, winning 2 of their opening 3 games and only suffering a defeat to defending champions Liverpool. They welcome a Manchester City side that will still be reeling from their thumping by Leicester City but bounced back well to beat Burnley in midweek in the Carabao Cup. This could be the standout tie of the game week which Manchester City should just about prevail from.
Betting tip: Manchester City to win the match and both teams to score ($1.75) – Bet @ Sportsbet
Manchester City to win 3-1
Newcastle United vs Burnley – St James’s Park
Newcastle United ($2.52)
Newcastle will be hoping to build on their solid start to the season as they welcome Burnley to the North East. The Toon have picked up 4 points from their opening 3 games and the manner of their late draw at Tottenham last time out should give all linked with the club a boost. Burnley meanwhile remain winless in the Premier League this season, having lost to Leicester and Southampton. Sean Dyche will be keen to see a response from his men here and this could end up as a draw between two well matched sides.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.25) – Bet @ Sportsbet
Leicester City vs West Ham United – King Power Stadium
Leicester City ($1.7)
West Ham United ($5.25)
High-flying Leicester City will be looking to maintain their 100% start as they take on West Ham. The Foxes thumped Manchester City last time out to pick up a famous win and Brendan Rodgers will be challenging his side to kick on between now and the end of the season. For West Ham meanwhile, they will be eager to build on an equally as impressive result last time out – as they thumped Wolves 4-0 to pick up their first win of the campaign. This could be a closer game than many expect but Leicester are strong at home and should prevail here.
Betting tip: Leicester City to win the match and both teams to score ($2.5) – Bet @ Sportsbet
Leicester City to win 3-1
Southampton vs West Bromwich Albion – St Mary’s Stadium
West Bromwich Albion ($4.8)
Southampton will be looking to build on their first win of the season last time out at Burnley as they take on West Brom. The Saints won well on the road at Turf Moor and kept their first clean sheet of the campaign in doing so. For the Baggies meanwhile, they should be full of confidence after taking a point off Chelsea last time out but conceding a 93rd minute equaliser could have a negative mental effect on them moving forward. West Bromwich Albion could hurt Southampton, but the Saints are strong at home and should win here.
Betting tip: Southampton to win the match ($1.78) – Bet @ Sportsbet
Southampton to win 2-0
Arsenal vs Sheffield United – Emirates Stadium
Sheffield United ($6.75)
Arsenal will be hoping to pile more misery on Sheffield United as they welcome the Blades to the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners lost their first game of the season last time out to Liverpool but will be hoping to kick on between now and the end of the campaign and fight for a top 4 finish. Sheffield United meanwhile look a team low on confidence after losing their opening 3 games – including a pain-staking loss to local rivals Leeds last time out. Sheffield United will look to stop Arsenal playing but the Gunners should be way too good – especially at home.
Betting tip: Arsenal to win the match and both teams to score ($2.35) – Bet @ Sportsbet
Arsenal to win 3-1
Wolves vs Fulham – Molyneux
Wolves will be looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats as they take on Fulham at home. They were thumped at West Ham last time out and they will be looking to respond instantly here. Fulham meanwhile look to be out of their depth in the Premier League – losing all three of their opening games and their defensive issues look to be central to their problems. This should be a good game between two expansive teams with Wolves most likely to come out on top.
Betting tip: Wolves to win the match to nil ($1.54) – Bet @ Sportsbet
Wolves to win 2-0
Manchester United vs Tottenham – Old Trafford
Manchester United ($1.96)
The big-name game of the weekend sees Manchester United host Tottenham. The reds picked up their first win of the season late on at Brighton last time out and they will be hoping to build on that here – after winning again in the Carabao Cup. For Spurs meanwhile, this presents a real opportunity to test themselves against another side pushing for a top 4 finish. Consistency has been lacking for Tottenham thus far, but they will feel they can hurt United in key areas. This could be a superb game with a draw looking the most likely result.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.75) – Bet @ Sportsbet
Aston Villa vs Liverpool – Villa Park
Aston Villa ($10)
High-flying Aston Villa take on Liverpool in the final match of the weekend. The Villains have won 2 from 2 and look to be in good form so far this season under Dean Smith. Their win over Fulham last time out was testament to their seemingly good progress in the Premier League. For Liverpool meanwhile, the machine rumbles on with their 100% record still intact this season and they will be hoping to keep winning games like this with ease. This could be a tighter game than many expect, with Villa troubling Liverpool home and away last season but the Reds should be too good in key areas here.
Betting tip: Liverpool to win the match to nil ($2) – Bet @ Sportsbet
Liverpool to win 2-0
