Venue: Spa Francorchamps, Belgian
Race Date: 29th August 2021
The Formula 1 action returns following a short break, with Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton ready to do battle once more. Championship leader Max Verstappen has bombed out in dramatic style in his last two races and with the experienced and proven Lewis Hamilton closing the gap in the Driver’s Championship, it promises to provide compelling drama. With bad blood now forming off the track between Mercedes and Red Bull too, Spa should provide the perfect backdrop for a superb weekend of racing.
Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix Predictions
All drivers/teams have enjoyed a four-week break, but the usual suspects are sure to be in the mix once more in tricky conditions at Spa.
Max Verstappen – $2.1
Red Bull undoubtedly have the quickest car on the grid this season but Max Verstappen’s recent wobble in the Drivers’ Championship will be a worry for all connected to the team. The Dutchman controversially crashed out at Silverstone before finishing 9th at the Hungarian Grand Prix and it appears Lewis Hamilton smells blood. He will be looking to make a statement here and pick up a victory on a track he is yet to win on in his career.
Lewis Hamilton – $2.1
Defending Formula 1 World Champion and 7-time winner Formula One world title loves racing at Spa, having won the race on the track 4 times previously. He won at the British Grand Prix before battling back to take second at the Hungarian edition and he will be confident of being able to keep the pressure up on Max Verstappen here and the increasing bad blood between the two is adding a fascinating narrative to the race to win the Driver’s Championship.
Sergio Perez – $15.00
Red Bull have a seriously quick car and Sergio Perez has enjoyed a solid debut season for the team. Assisting Max Verstappen in his title bid will be key for the Mexican but if he can find himself in contention, he is sure to push for the win. Getting past Valtteri Bottas will also be a personal battle Perez is looking to win against the Mercedes man and with plenty of attention surely on Hamilton and Verstappen, he could sneak under the radar this weekend.
Valtteri Bottas – $21.00
It has been a tough period for Valtteri Bottas who looks to be driving without confidence and with his position within the Mercedes team seemingly unconfirmed for next year, he needs a performance here. The Finn is a quality operator though and he will be looking to do all he can to keep Mercedes on top in the Constructors Championship. Youngster George Russell has been tipped by many to be Bottas’s replacement and he will be doing all he can to keep the wolves at bay this week.
F1 Belgian Grand Prix First Driver to Retire
Spa is one of the most iconic race tracks in Formula One and every racer will be doing all they can to avoid trouble from the off here at the Belguan Grand Prix:
Yuki Tsunoda – $9.00
Japanese youngster Yuki Tsunoda has been hugely impressive for Alpha-Tauri this season, but his results are currently trending negatively. With pace to burn, Tsunoda looks to be a real prospect for the future, but Spa is an awkward proposition and Tsunoda looks to be a candidate to retire first at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Mick Schumacher – $11.00
Following in his father’s footsteps has taken longer than many have expected for Mick Schumacher, who has endured a relatively tough rookie season so far for Haas. They are one of the only teams without a point as, yet this season and the young German could get caught up in trouble from the off in Belgium.
F1 Belgian Grand Prix Top Six Finish
It is heading towards crunch time in the 2021 Formula One season and all of the big hitters on the grid will be desperate to register decent points at the Belgian Grand Prix:
Charles Leclerc – $1.5
Ferrari haven’t enjoyed the best year in 2021 but Charles Leclerc is still one of the very best drivers on the grid and having won at this race before, he looks to be good value to finish in the top 6 this year at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Lando Norris – $1.55
McLaren’s Lando Norris is sitting pretty in third in the Driver’s Championship, and he could be one to look out for here. He is starting to consistently piece together impressive drives and he is in possession of an excellent car with McLaren.
Pierre Gasly – $3.25
Frenchman Pierre Gasly is a superbly talented driver and with his compatriot Esteban Ocon winning last time out and with Gasly himself having already bagged a F1 win last season, he is always a contender to finish in the top 6 in any race he goes in.
