Lando Norris scooped the opening race of the 2025 F1 season in impressive fashion in Melbourne last weekend and the circus rolls onto Shanghai this week. Formula 1 returns for China for the first time since 2019 and with millions of fans across the country, the profile of the sport is set to be reborn at the iconic Shanghai track. With Norris and Verstappen finishing inside the top 2, there was a familiar look to the leaderboard last weekend, but Mercedes also had an impressive time of in Melbourne, with George Russell cracking the podium. There are probably more questions than answers at this stage of the season, but it should be another super week of racing in China.

F1 Chinese Grand Prix Race Winner

Shanghai hosts F1 events like nowhere else on earth and it should be a joyous return to the calendar here:

Lando Norris – $2.20

Getting off to a fast start was the perfect way for Lando Norris to kick off the 2025 campaign and he held his nerve impressively to win in Melbourne last weekend. Obviously, winning races does heighten expectations though and Norris and McLaren in general will look to take plenty of heart from that result. Going back to back and winning here in China would feel like a huge result for Norris but he and his car look to be in a good place, and he is the driver to catch.

Max Verstappen – $4.50

As is so often the way, not many people back Max Verstappen to continue his dominance at the start of the season but after the first race, their stance tends to change. The prolific Dutchman was in imperious form in Melbourne last week, eventually being undone by some Lando Norris brilliance but he will be firmly in the mix again here in Shanghai. Conditions should suit and this Red Bull car is flying, making Verstappen a good value shout here.

Oscar Piastri – $4.50

Following a disappointing weekend in his home Grand Prix last week, Oscar Piastri will be looking to bounce back here in Shanghai. McLaren clearly have one of the best cars on the track and Piastri will be desperate to steer his way into contention and compete with his stablemate Lando Norris in this one. How much he knows about the track here in Shanghai remains to be seen but his driving talent is undoubted, and he should be in the mix here.

Following an underwhelming start to life at Ferrari last week in Melbourne, Lewis Hamilton will be looking to progress up the leaderboard here in Shanghai. He likes it here in China and it is hard to see him not improving for the Italians.
