Caulfield horse racing tips
Race 1. (11:45) Neds Same Race Multi Handicap (2400m)
#5 – Persan – Bet Now
Persan scored three consecutive wins prior to his second placing at Caulfield last start. The four-year-old was only two lengths behind the winner and he could bounce back.
The Maher/Eustace-trained runner was having his first start around Caulfield and that is never easy. Having that experience is ideal here and he meets only an even field in the first.
Race 2. (12:20) Evergreen Turf BM78 (1100m)
#1 – Windstorm – Bet Now
Windstorm is getting no favours in the weights with 62kg but the Williams-trained gelding has the class edge.
The four-year-old son of Redoute’s Choice owns five wins from six starts, including a smart win at Belmont last time out.
This will be his biggest test to date but the stable is firing and he could be their next stable star.
Race 3. (12:55) Allan & Helen Angus BM90 (1400m)
#7 – My Gold Bracelet – Bet Now
The former Kiwi mare comes into this race having not run since March, but she was a quality type in New Zealand.
Her most recent of three consecutive wins came at Group 2 level where she beat the highly-talented Levante.
Winning fresh up won’t be easy but she’s an exciting type in the making.
Race 4. (13:30) MRC Members Tipstar Handicap (1400m)
#4 – Yulong January – Bet Now
Yulong January has ability on his day and with seven wins from 16 starts, he demands respect at this level.
The Maher/Eustace-trained gelding is coming off a couple of average efforts but he improves with racing and he is a five-time winner at 1400m.
Punters could get each-way odds for this classy type, so he is worth the risk.
Race 5. (14:10) Neds Price Boost Quality (2000m)
#9 – Schabau – Bet Now
Schabau is having his first start at Caulfield, which could be tricky, but he has class to call upon.
The Robert Hickmott-trained stayer owns five wins from 10 starts and his only failure came last start when he pulled up lame.
Having William Pike in the saddle from barrier five is ideal and he should be sitting on the pace and ready to strike.
Race 6. (14:50) Neds The Heath (1100m)
#6 – Garner @ $6.50 – Bet Now
The four-year-old is a model of consistency with four wins and six placings from 10 starts. He goes well fresh up and although this field is hot, he can measure up.
The son of Barbados finished second at Morphettville last start behind Xilong, and that form has stacked up nicely.
He has an impressive turn-of-foot and if he gets the right run in transit, watch for him late.
Race 7. (15:30) H.F McNeil Stakes (1200m)
#1 – Tagaloa @ $3.90 – Bet Now
Tagaloa is the best horse in this race and the Blue Diamond winner could make a winning start to the new season.
The Busuttin/Young-trained colt followed up his Blue Diamond win with a fourth in the Golden Slipper, and he wasn’t bred to enjoy sprinting.
We believe he’ll continue to improve over longer distances and the son of Lord Kanaloa looks a good bet in this race.
Race 8. (16:10) Neds Heatherlie Stakes (1700m)
#8 – Sircconi @ $3.90 – Bet Now
Sircconi is coming off a second placing behind Savatiano at Group 2 level and he is already up and running against many resuming stayers.
The six-year-old is only a four-time winner but he saves his best racing for Caulfield. He has two wins and five placings on the track, and he gets ideal conditions on Saturday.
Punters often get value odds for Sircconi and Saturday could be no different.
Race 10. (17:20) Moet & Chandon Cockram Stakes (1200m)
#1 – Rubisaki – Bet Now
Rubisaki is a superstar and we are hoping she has matured into a quality four-year-old. She has won eight of her 10 starts and most of those have come against quality opposition.
She has yet to win at Group 1 level but she will get her opportunity this season and she could be the next star of the turf.
Drawing barrier 13 doesn’t help but her class will take her close.
