Uruguay vs Spain Preview
Two sides that had high hopes coming into the World Cup meet here, as Uruguay take on Spain in Group H.
It has been an underwhelming tournament for Uruguay so far, who have drawn both of their games against Cabo Verde and Saudi Arabia, meaning they have a proverbial mountain to climb to qualify.
Spain meanwhile were frustrated by Cabo Verde in their opener but bounced back impressively against Saudi Arabia and now look well placed to top the group.
Qualifying for the knockout rounds would have been the minimum expectation for both of these sides heading into the competition and as a result, this has become a very big one.
Spain know anything other than a loss should see them through but for the Uruguayans, this one feels must win.
The stakes will be high in Guadalajara and here is a look ahead to Uruguay vs Spain:
Best Bet
Being labelled the pre-tournament favourites in any World Cup is never easy but Spain look to be dealing with the pressure.
Much was made of their opening game draw with Cabo Verde, but they bounced back impressively against Saudi Arabia.
They have quality all through their ranks and excellent squad depth, which should make them full of confidence for this one.
By the same token, Uruguay have lacked fluidity in both of their performances, and they look to be a little low on confidence.
Spain will be desperate to exploit this, and they should come out on top in this one in Mexico.
Same Game Multi Bet
Despite plenty of sharks being out for Spain after their first game draw, they are in pole position to top Group H and are yet to concede a goal in the tournament.
They however will look to rotate the pack in this one and they could also play with a little bit more freedom.
Uruguay have to chase the game and find a win, something manager Marcelo Bielsa isnβt inherently comfortable with, and this one could be chaos.
Spain have the better players in key areas though and they should come out on top.
Best Value Bet
The generational talent that is Lamine Yamal looks set to make his mark at this World Cup, having opened his account against Saudi Arabia last time out.
He has been struggling for fitness with Barcelona for the last few months, but he is capable to tearing into opposition defences at any moment.
With Uruguay chasing the win that may see them progress, they could leave space in behind and nobody in world football is better at exploiting big defensive gaps than Yamal.
