Women’s World Cup Round 2 Predictions
New Zealand vs Philippines
New Zealand ($1.36)
Co-hosts New Zealand kicked off the action emphatically last week, beating well-fancied Norway in a real surprise result and they will need to keep the momentum going against the Philippines. Nobody gave the Kiwis a chance heading into the game, but they showed resilience to win 1-0 and they look to be the firm favourites here, against a Philippines side that are an unknown entity.
Betting tip: New Zealand to win the match ($1.36)
New Zealand to win 2-0
Norway vs Switzerland
Two European powerhouses go at it in Group A, with the pressure heaped on Norway against Switzerland. Losing to New Zealand was not the start the Norwegians wanted and they know anything other than a win here could be disastrous. Switzerland meanwhile dispatched of the Philippines, and they will be keen to top Group A if possible. This will be a good one, with Norway perhaps most likely to nick the points.
Betting tip: Norway to win the match ($2.2)
Norway to win 2-1
Japan vs Costa Rica
Costa Rica ($56)
Japan looked in imperious form in their opening game and they will be eager to continue that against Costa Rica. Seeing off Zambia 5-0 was a real statement win for Japan, who will be in the mix to go deep here in Australia and New Zealand. For Costa Rica meanwhile, this is another free hit and whilst they surprised a few against Spain, Japan should beat them easily here.
Betting tip: Japan to win the match ($1.06)
Japan to win 4-0
Zambia vs Spain
Spain will be looking to play up to their favourites tag once more, as they take on Zambia. Cruising past Costa Rica will have been the perfect start to the tournament for Spain, who still await their first FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament win. Zambia meanwhile were demolished by Japan in their opener and whilst they will want to resemble some pride, Spain should come out on top comfortably in this one.
Betting tip: Spain to win the match ($1.03)
Spain to win 4-0
Canada vs Republic of Ireland
Republic of Ireland ($6.5)
Two sides in need of a win face off, as Canada take on the Republic of Ireland. For the Canadians, the opening draw with Nigeria was underwhelming and they will need to bounce back quickly. The Republic of Ireland meanwhile pushed Australia all the way in their opener, and they should be buoyed by that here, This is a very tough one to call but Canada have the big game experience, which could see them through.
Betting tip: Canada to win the match ($1.64)
Canada to win 2-1
USA vs Netherlands
Two of the biggest sides in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup face off as tournament favourites battle it out against the Netherlands, in a repeat of the 2019 World Cup Final. For the USA, just plodding along and winning one game at a time will be the key message, whilst the Netherlands will be eager to showcase what they can do here. This will be tight, but the USA should get the job done.
Betting tip: USA to win the match ($1.81)
USA to win 2-0
Vietnam vs Portugal
Two teams that lost their first two games of their respective World Cup campaigns will be chasing points here, as Vietnam take on Portugal. Haiti vs China
It is last chance saloon for Haiti and China, with both sides knowing that a loss here would end their World Cup hopes. Haiti pushed England all the way in their opener, and they may be made to rue a host of missed chances. This should be a classic, with France most likely to get the job done.
Betting tip: France to win the match ($2.55)
France to win 2-1
Jamaica vs Panama
Fresh off one of the biggest shocks in recent times, Jamaica will be looking to continue picking up points as they take on Panama. Jamaica’s draw with France was the biggest shock of the tournament so far and a win here could see them sneak into the knockout picture. Panama were well beaten by Brazil in their opener and therefore need a win here to stay in contention for qualification, but Jamaica should pick up the points.
Betting tip: Jamaica to win the match ($1.52)
Jamaica to win 1-0
Argentina vs South Africa
South Africa ($4.6)
Two teams that need a win to stay in the competition face off as Argentina take on South Africa. Both sides were outdone by late goals in their openers and that will be something they will be eager to rectify here. Argentina will start as the favourites for this one and with very little to split the sides on paper, it could well end up being a draw.
Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.6)
Germany vs Colombia
Euro 2022 finalists Germany will be looking to sustain their push for World Cup glory, as they take on Colombia. Morocco were thumped by the Germans in their opening game and whilst Colombia are a decent side that should provide a sterner test, Germany should pick up another important win here in Group H.
