FIFA World Cup 2022 Round 1 Predictions

Qatar vs Ecuador

Qatar ($3.55)

Ecuador ($2.4)

Draw ($3.2)

Hosts Qatar will be looking to get their World Cup campaign up and running, as they take on Ecuador in the traditional curtain raiser. Gauging where Qatar are at in relation to the other teams in this tournament is tough, but they will be up for this one against an experienced Ecuador side. Ecuador have plenty of canny operators and whilst they will have to be at their best, they should prevail here.

Betting tip: Ecuador to win the match ($2.4) Bet @ BlueBet

Ecuador to win 2-1

England vs Iran

England ($1.39)

Iran ($12)

Draw ($4.8)

The Three Lions of England get their World Cup campaign underway against Iran. Gareth Southgate’s side reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and how they would love to improve on that here in Qatar. Iran meanwhile have always revelled in the role of underdog and how they dream of upsetting England on the big stage here. This should be one-way traffic though, with England most likely to pick up a welcome win.

Betting tip: England to win the match ($1.39) Bet @ BlueBet

England to win 2-0

Senegal vs Netherlands

Senegal ($6.5)

Netherlands ($1.63)

Draw ($3.69)

Two sides that will be pushing to go all the way at the 2022 FIFA World Cup face off as Senegal take on the Netherlands. No African side has ever won the World Cup, but Senegal have plenty of high quality operators and have more than an outside shot at glory. The Netherlands meanwhile missed out on the 2018 World Cup, which is sure to make them more eager than ever here in Qatar. This could be a tight game, with the Dutch most likely to come out on top.

Betting tip: Netherlands to win the match ($1.63) Bet @ BlueBet

Netherlands to win 2-1

USA vs Wales

USA ($2.72)

Wales ($3.05)

Draw ($3.05)

Group B has a relatively open look to it and both the USA and Wales will be eager to put down a marker in this one. USA always tend to bring their very best stuff to major tournaments and their young squad looks particularly exciting. Wales meanwhile are playing in their first World Cup since 1958 and should relish every second of playing in Qatar. There is very little to split these two sides, making the draw the most likely outcome.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($2.72) Bet @ BlueBet

1-1 Draw

Argentina vs Saudi Arabia

Argentina ($1.19)

Saudi Arabia ($21)

Draw ($7.6)

2014 World Cup finalists Argentina will be looking to get off to a good start in Qatar, as they take on Saudi Arabia. Argentina are always one of the key sides to keep an eye on in any World Cup campaign and their recent showings give reason to their status as one of the favourites for glory. Saudi Arabia meanwhile continually qualify for World Cups but often struggle to pick up results, making Argentina justified favourites for this one.

Betting tip: Argentina to win the match ($1.19) Bet @ BlueBet

Argentina to win 3-0

Denmark vs Tunisia

Denmark ($1.48)

Tunisia ($8.8)

Draw ($4.33)

Denmark and Tunisia will be hoping to get off to strong starts, as they face off in their opening match. Denmark reached the semi-finals of Euro 2020 and should be better off for the experience as they arrive here in Qatar. Tunisia meanwhile were delighted to have qualified for Qatar and how they would love to put some early points on the board. This will be tighter than the odds suggest, with Tunisia often a tough side to play against but Denmark should prevail in this one.

Betting tip: Denmark to win the match ($1.48) Bet @ BlueBet

Denmark to win 2-1

Mexico vs Poland

Mexico ($2.8)

Poland ($2.88)

Draw ($3.15)

Both Mexico and Poland will have high hopes for the 2022 World Cup, and both will want to get off to the best possible start. Mexico always bring their A-game to the big tournaments, and they will relish the playing conditions here in Qatar. Poland meanwhile will be looking to Robert Lewandowski to bang the goals in, as they look to progress to the knockout rounds. This should be a real clash of style, with a draw seemingly on the cards.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.15) Bet @ BlueBet

1-1 Draw

France vs Australia

France ($1.27)

Australia ($15)

Draw ($6.5)

2018 World Cup champions France get their campaign underway against Australia in what promises to be an intriguing battle. Les Blues possess one of the most exciting squads in world football and look to have another golden generation on their hands whilst the Socceroo’s are notoriously resolute and efficient in big tournaments which should add to the spectacle. France will need to get their show on the road quickly and should have too much for the Socceroo’s.

Betting tip: France to win the match ($1.27) Bet @ BlueBet

France to win 2-0

Morocco vs Croatia

Morocco ($4.7)

Croatia ($1.95)

Draw ($3.41)

2018 World Cup runners-up Croatia will be eager to get going as they take on Morocco. Croatia are often overlooked in big tournaments but have a habit of coming good, which could happen again here in Qatar. Morocco meanwhile have endured a few years away from World Cup action and they will surely relish the challenge here in the Middle East. This will be tighter than the odds suggest but Croatia should just about come out on top.

Betting tip: Croatia to win the match ($1.95) Bet @ BlueBet

Croatia to win 2-1

Germany vs Japan

Germany ($1.52)

Japan ($7)

Draw ($4.7)

Germany take on Japan, in what should be a fascinating battle between two contrasting sides. 2014 winners Germany will be eager to put down a marker as they look to get over the disappointment of their poor showing in 2018. Japan meanwhile came agonisingly close to upsetting Belgium in 2018 and have evolved as a side since, making them an outside shot at glory here in Qatar. This won’t be easy for Germany, but they should pinch the points.

Betting tip: Germany to win the match ($1.52) Bet @ BlueBet

Germany to win 2-0

Spain vs Costa Rica

Spain ($1.19)

Costa Rica ($26)

Draw ($8)

2010 World Cup winners Spain will be eager to put down a marker against minnows Costa Rica. How far Luis Enrique’s Spain can go in 2022 remains to be seen but they have an exciting side that will be relishing the challenge in Qatar. Costa Rica meanwhile are the proverbial minnows, and they enjoy upsetting the established order, but Spain are too long in the tooth, and they should come out on top here.

Betting tip: Spain to win the match ($1.19) Bet @ BlueBet

Spain to win 3-0

Belgium vs Canada

Belgium ($1.49)

Canada ($7.5)

Draw ($4.5)

2018 bronze medallists Belgium will be looking to get off to a good start against Canada. The golden generation of Belgian football looks to have surpassed somewhat but they remain a strong side, capable of beating anybody on their day. Canada meanwhile are playing in their first ever World Cup and whilst they will relish the experience, this could be a bridge too far for them – making Belgium the strong favourites for this one.

Betting tip: Belgium to win the match ($1.49) Bet @ BlueBet

Belgium to win 3-0

Switzerland vs Cameroon

Switzerland ($1.75)

Cameroon ($6)

Draw ($3.6)

Switzerland have been slowly forging a reputation as one of the most exciting sides in Europe and they will be eager to get their World Cup campaign off to a good start against Cameroon. The Swiss have never gone beyond the last 16 at a World Cup but there is plenty of optimism surrounding the side currently. Cameroon meanwhile are a quality outfit, that always have the potential to produce results in major tournaments. This will be a very close opening game, making the draw the most plausible result.

Betting tip: The match to finish as a draw ($3.6) Bet @ BlueBet

1-1 Draw

Uruguay vs South Korea

Uruguay ($1.82)

South Korea ($5.5)

Draw ($3.5)

Two teams looking to make an early impact in the World Cup face off as Uruguay take on South Korea. Uruguay are a swashbuckling side, with plenty of attacking talent and they are many people’s outside pick for glory. Meanwhile, South Korea continue to be one of the principal flag-bearers for Asian football and always seem to deliver on the biggest stage. This should be a real spectacle, with Uruguay most likely to clinch all three points.

Betting tip: Uruguay to win the match ($1.82) Bet @ BlueBet

Uruguay to win 2-1

Portugal vs Ghana

Portugal ($1.45)

Ghana ($9.5)

Draw ($4.5)

Two teams looking to make very different impacts in Qatar are Portugal and Ghana, who face off in what promises to be an intriguing encounter. Portugal are one of the genuine outsiders for the trophy in the Middle East, with their talented squad, whilst Ghana will be looking to embrace the adventure ahead at the World Cup. Ghana won’t roll over here, but Portugal are a good side, and they should come out on top in this one.

Betting tip: Portugal to win the match ($1.45) Bet @ BlueBet

Portugal to win 2-0

Brazil vs Serbia

Brazil ($1.46)

Serbia ($8.1)

Draw ($4.9)

5-time World Cup winners Brazil will be looking to get their campaign firing, as they take on Serbia in their opening fixture. Brazil are the hot favourites for glory in Qatar and how they would love to end 20 years of World Cup pain. Serbia meanwhile revel in the role of plucky underdog and they could be tough to beat in every game they play. Serbia won’t shirk this task, but Brazil should come out firing in this opening fixture.

Betting tip: Brazil to win the match ($1.46) Bet @ BlueBet

Brazil to win 3-1
