Abu Dhabi Championship Tips & Predictions
—
Abu Dhabi Championship Winner – Rory McIlroy
Backing McIlroy comes with danger in 2024, but the Northern Irishman is too good to overlook as the tournament favourite.
He finished T25 in the Alfred Dunhill, which was won by Hatton, but the 35-year-old is more than capable of overturning that result as a $5.50 chance.
The former world number one was a winner earlier in the year on the DP World Tour and he has come close to winning multiple times since.
There is little doubt that he’s the best player in the field, and although he hasn’t been the best bet for golf punters over the last few years, McIlroy could enter 2025 with momentum, so a win in Abu Dhabi is on the cards.
Bet: Rory McIlroy @ $5.50
Abu Dhabi Championship Next Best – Tyrrell Hatton
We might be backing the top two favourites, but it’s with good reason. Hatton is one of the hottest golfers in the world right now, and he’s best representing the LIV Tour.
The 33-year-old Englishman won the Alfred Dunhill Links by a shot over a quality field, and he’s a confidence player. The win would have done him plenty of good, and it would have boosted his world ranking, which has suffered recently.
These tournaments mean plenty to the LIV players, and Hatton is playing well enough to justify the $7.00 odds. It’s on the shorter side of value, but we don’t want to leave him out.
Bet: Tyrrell Hatton @ $7.00
Abu Dhabi Championship Best Value – Adam Scott
There are many good Aussies in the field, but standing above the rest is Adam Scott, who could make a winning return to the course.
The South Australian hasn’t been seen since finishing T57 in the BMW PGA Championship in September, not including playing at the Presidents Cup, and the break could have done him some good.
The 44-year-old major winner showed his class when finishing T4 in the FedEx Cup and Tour Championship behind Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala. That was a great season-long performance.
It’s only a matter of time before he wins another tournament, and it could come as a $19.00 chance at the Abu Dhabi Championship.
Bet: Adam Scott @ $19.00
Abu Dhabi Championship 1st Round Leader – Matt Wallace
Picking the first round leader isn’t easy, but punters get value odds for every golfer in the field, including Matt Wallace.
The 34-year-old Brit played well in the Andalucia Masters, and when he plays well, he usually fires in a good opening round on Thursday.
Sporting 12 professional wins, Wallace has class on his side and he should have a good performance in Abu Dhabi, so we’re backing him to lead the field at $36.00. It’s a great price for a golfer who is often near the top of the leaderboard on Day 1.
Bet: Matt Wallace @ $36.00
