We have expert betting tips for the 2020 BMW Championship, which is the second event of the FedEx Cup playoffs.
The field has dwindled down for the BMW Championship and players are fighting for position. We look at the best bets for the tournament, which tees off on Friday morning.
BMW Championship Predictions
BMW Championship Best Bet – Jon Rahm @ $10
We went with Jon Rahm in the Northern Trust last week and although he didn’t win, he was prominent on the leaderboard.
He finished in a tie for sixth and it was a good finish to the tournament. The course this week will suit his eye better and he didn’t hit number one in the world this year by fluke.
The Spaniard is one of the best players in the world and it is why bookmakers are respecting his chances at $10. He is on the second line of betting behind Dustin Johnson, who could struggle after his performance last week.
Rahm represents value for the BMW Championship and the shortened field add to the likelihood of him winning – Bet Now
BMW Championship Best Value – Rory McIlroy @ $17
It has been a frustrating season for the former FedEx Cup champion. He hasn’t been playing anywhere near his best, including last week at the Northern Trust. However, that could all change at the BMW Championship.
It’s a tournament he has played well at in the past and despite his recent struggles, he has a fair amount of class to call upon. He just needs to be more accurate off the tee, which is a key to his recent form.
If he hits more fairways, he’ll hit more greens and start making putts. The flow-on effect starts with the driver and we’re keeping the faith with McIlroy.
$17 is a fair price from bookmakers and one worth locking in – Bet Now
BMW Championship Leader After Round 1 – Brendan Steele @ $96
It has been a while since Brendan Steele showed his best form, but we couldn’t turn down the $96 in the first-round leader market.
Steele finished T22 in the PGA Championship where he was only nine shots off the winner. It was a good performance and it should give punters confidence heading into this tournament.
The 37-year-old has been playing well over the course of 2020 and given the odds, he is our best pick in this market.
The leader after Round 1 market is always reliant on luck, so why not take the $96 offered by bookmakers? – Bet Now
BMW Championship Top 10 Betting Predictions
We don’t think Dustin Johnson will be as good as he was last week, but he’s a solid Top 10 chance.
Johnson ($1.80) is coming off an incredible performance at the Northern Trust, where he shot –30 and destroyed the field by 11 shots. He is unlikely to reproduce that for a second consecutive week, but a Top 10 finish is well within his grasp.
Justin Thomas ($2.25) is another strong play and the former world number one has been solid all season. Thomas is a player that punters love to back on an each-way basis, as he’s always around the mark and doesn’t let the occasion get to him.
Getting better than even money for Thomas is good shopping and if he plays well in the opening round, expect those odds to firm considerably over the weekend.
Webb Simpson ($2.70) had a lot of love in the market last week and punters are getting better odds this time around. He is paying $2.70 for a Top 10 finish and he finished T6 last week, so there is good momentum.
He carried on his excellent form after finishing third at the Wyndham Championship. Simpson is one of the more solid players on the PGA Tour and much like Justin Thomas, he never gets rattled.
He won’t win the contest for most exciting golfer but he is a value player this week and we’re happy with the price.
Our final golfer to back is Kevin Kisner ($4.33). The American is in good form and he typically goes under the radar, which is the case again this week.
Back Kisner for some value and he could make a case to win the tournament at longer odds of $34.
