BMW Championship Tips & Predictions
—
BMW Championship Best Bet – Viktor Hovland
Hovland has yet to win in 2024, but he loves playing at this time of the year.
The Norwegian went awfully close to winning at the St. Jude Championship last week, and it would have done his confidence a world of good.
He is the defending FedEx Cup champion, and with that comes a wealth of experience. He’s the defending BMW Championship, which kick-started his assault on the course in 2023.
We’re not surprised by the money coming for the 26-year-old, who shot –4 in the final round on Monday, which was enough to secure T2 with Schauffele.
Punters get solid odds at $17.00, and considering there are only 50 players in the field, those odds are well worth taking.
Bet: Viktor Hovland @ $17.00
BMW Championship Best Value – Hideki Matsuyama
Matsuyama is a tough player to beat when he’s playing well, and after winning last week, he’s well worth backing again.
He could put pressure on Scheffler’s big FedEx Cup lead with a win, and although he almost choked last week, he didn’t have things in his favour.
After the officials talked to him about a possible rule infraction, Matsuyama’s game was terrible. However, despite losing his five-shot lead, he bounced back with birdies on 17 and 18 to win.
It all came without his normal caddy, who had to fly back to Japan because his passport was stolen in London following the Olympic Games.
It made for a good story, but his caddy is back at the BMW Championship, and the dynamic duo could taste success at value $19.00 odds.
Bet: Hideki Matsuyama @ $19.00
BMW Championship Next Best – Wyndham Clark
Wyndham Clark hasn’t had the best year at the major level, but after finishing T7 last week, there is hope of a return to form.
The 30-year-old American, who won the 2023 U.S. Open, hasn’t been playing at the same level since that victory. However, we saw encouraging signs at the Olympics, and he closed with a six under round at the St. Jude Championship.
He only needs to keep that form going to be right in the thick of the action this week, and punters get odds worth snapping up.
He’s a $34.00 chance to win, and there is good value with Clark in top 5 and top 10 betting markets as well.
Bet: Wyndham Clark @ $34.00
BMW Championship Best Roughie – Sungjae Im
Consistency isn’t always there with Sungjae Im, but the South Korean is always a winning threat.
The 26-year-old is a two-time PGA Tour winner, with those wins coming in 2020 and 2021, and it’s about time he won again.
We haven’t been impressed with his performances in the majors this year, including missing the cut at the Masters, PGA Championship, and U.S. Open. However, he finished T7 at the Open Championship recently.
That should give him some confidence for the BMW Championship, and he needs a good finish to make the TOUR Championship.
Punters get $46.00, and although he’s a risky bet, he could score an upset win.
Bet: Sungjae Im @ $46.00
