We have expert betting tips for the Open Championship this week, where the world’s best golfers embark on Royal Birkdale.
It’s the final major of the year, so the pressure is on, and it’s Scottie Scheffler who is a loose favourite to win at $8, which is the longest price he’s paid to win this year.
We look at the best Open Championship picks, including our best bet, best roughie, and top 10.
Best Bet
Matt Fitzpatrick knows what it takes to play well at the Open Championship, and he has arguably been the best player on the PGA Tour this season.
He’s a multiple winner in 2026 and given his experience playing in tough conditions in Europe, he should be paying shorter odds than $15. He won the 2022 U.S. Open in tough conditions, and the weather forecast is for strong winds.
The 31-year-old is an accurate player, which helps in the wind, and he comes off a tidy finish at the Scottish Open. That’s the same tournament that Scheffler missed the cut in, so backing Fitzpatrick at almost double the odds is a smart play.
Best Value Bet
Jon Rahm is another Euopean player who performs best in tough conditions, and he has shown that on the LIV Tour this year.
Conditions haven’t always been ideal for the LIV tournaments, and Rahm’s efforts on the breakaway tour have gone under the radar due to a lack of media interest. However, Rahm is playing well, and he’s due to score another major win.
He will need to be accurate off the tee at a rough Royal Birkdale, but he’s a good putter, and the $20 odds to win are worth including in golf picks this week.
Best Roughie
Patrick Reed keeps going under the radar in golf betting markets despite playing well throughout the year.
The former PGA Tour and LIV Tour player, who now plays on the DP World Tour, has won multiple tournaments this year, and his recent performance at the Scottish Open (T13) suggests he’s ready to win another major.
The 2018 Masters champion isn’t an overly popular player with fans, which is why he’s paying $46 to win. However, we rate him as a $26 chance based on form and ability, so he can’t be left out of Open Championship picks.
Next Best
A major awaits Joaquin Niemann, and although his form in majors hasn’t been great over his career, that could change at the 2026 Open Championship.
The LIV superstar has the best record on the tour, and we’re hoping that translates into success on the global stage. He played well at the BMW International Open when posting a T7, and he also finished T7 at the U.S. Open earlier this year.
We believe he’s the best player to have never won a major, and the $61 odds for Niemann to win the Open Championship are too good to turn down. We rated him at much shorter odds, so snap up the value.
Top 10
Players coming off a Scottish Open win often play well the following week at the Open Championship, so Tom Kim should play well.
The South Korean might have taken years to win another PGA Tour event, but he stuck to his guns, and he could post another good result this week.
It’s all about confidence for Kim, so look for him to start well on Thursday and hang around for a top 10 finish at $4.50.
