The American Express Golf Tips & Predictions

American Express Best Bet – Scottie Scheffler

Scottie Scheffler is the best player in the world, and although he has never won a PGA Tour tournament outside of three months of the year, we’re picking him.

The $7 favourite played well at the Tournament of Champions to kick off the year, and he only needs his putting to measure up.

He’s one of the best ball strikers on the PGA Tour, and he usually finds his best form approaching February. He earns most of his FedEx Cup points early in the year, so that bodes well for this tournament.

We’re happy to take his odds and put him on top at the 2024 American Express.

Bet: Scottie Scheffler @ $7

American Express Best Value – Xander Schauffele

Looking to get his 2024 off to a positive start is Xander Schauffele, who also played well at the Tournament of Champions earlier this month.

The prolific PGA Tour winner has yet to win a major, which is why the American Express is right up his alley.

He’s one of the best players in the world and he just needs to find the killer instinct to win more tournaments.

The American is on the third line of betting at $11, which is a value price from bookmakers.

Bet: Xander Schauffele @ $11

American Express Best Roughie – Justin Thomas

Given his current form, Justin Thomas falls into the roughie category, despite his odds being only $23.

The former top-level golfer is going through a crisis of confidence, but the talent is still there, and we’re happy to give him another chance.

Having missed the first two tournaments, he’s ready to hit the ground running. He told the media his game isn’t as bad as everyone thinks, so he’s not panicking about missing the FedEx Cup playoffs.

His reputation is enough to include him in selections.

Bet: Justin Thomas @ $23

American Express Next Best – Min Woo Lee

Australia’s Min Woo Lee has full-time PGA Tour status and he’ll look to make the most of it at the American Express.

He was a classy winner at the Australian PGA Championship late last year, and his T5 finish at the U.S. Open was a terrific performance.

Lee is still only 25 years old, so he has a bright future. He could make a huge impact on the PGA Tour, so take the $26 available.

Bet: Min Woo Lee @ $23

American Express Blowout – Erik van Rooyen

Erik van Rooyen made the cut last week without being overly impressive, but he finished T22 at the Tournament of Champions.

The South African is a two-time winner on the PGA Tour, including the World Wide Technology Championship in November.

He faced a relatively easy field on that occasion, but it was still a good winning performance from the 35-year-old.

Given the $81 odds, we’re not leaving him off our ticket.

Bet: Erik van Rooyen @ $81
