The next stop on the 2020 PGA Tour is the Travelers Championship. Teeing off this week are the world’s best golfers, including Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, and Brooks Koepka.
Daniel Berger and Webb Simpson have taken the honours since golf returned and we have expert betting predictions for the next tournament.
Travelers Championship Preview
Travelers Championship Best Bet – Rory McIlroy @ $15
It is only a matter of time before Rory McIlroy finds his best form and although he hasn’t been at his best since lockdown, he has class on his side.
The Northern Irishman finished in a tie for 41st at the RBC Heritage, which wasn’t expected from the former world number one. He didn’t play well on the weekend, shooting just –1 on the final round, when other golfers were going deep.
McIlroy is too good to ignore and at the odds of $15, he is a strong chance of finding his form this week – Bet Now
Travelers Championship Best Value – Brooks Koepka @ $19
Most golf punters and fans know that Brooks Koepka saves his best golf for the big tournaments. However, we saw glimpses of his best form last week and he will want to add to this PGA Tour record.
The American is a big-time player in majors and World Golf Championship events, but he hasn’t won as many PGA titles as he should have.
That could all change this week and although the course at The Travelers suits the shorter hitters, Koepka could take risks and they could pay off.
$19 for a golfer of his quality is good hunting and if he plays well in the opening round, expect those odds to firm into single figures – Bet Now
Travelers Championship Top Australian – Aaron Baddeley @ $11
“Badds” hasn’t been very good lately, but the Australian typically plays well at The Travelers. Aaron Baddeley used to be one of the best putters on tour, but that has escaped him of late.
However, he is good enough to regain his form at this tournament and bookmakers aren’t giving him much respect. He is a multiple winner on the PGA Tour and we believe he’s got another good run in him.
Marc Leishman heads the market but he usually needs a few tournaments to show his best form – Bet Now
Travelers Championship Top 10 Betting Predictions
There is always good value in the Top 10 betting markets and last week we hit with both Justin Thomas and Daniel Berger from our three selections.
Apart from Rory McIlroy ($2.40) and Brooks Koepka ($3.30), we look at three more golfers that could tickle the top of the leaderboard this week.
We have been patiently waiting for Jon Rahm to show his best form and it could come this week. He is a fiery player that can become a headcase on the course, but he is too good to ignore.
Rahm ($3) is a proven winner and he will be desperate to show the form that got him into the number two spot in the world rankings.
It wasn’t long ago that Dustin Johnson was the dominant player in golf. Fast forward to 2020 and he is struggling, but it’s mostly on the greens.
Johnson has lost all confidence with his short game, which is surprising given how good he has been over the last 10 years.
We are sticking with Johnson and he only needs to make a few putts to be in contention. He is paying $3.75 for a Top 10 finish and that would have been silly money at one stage in his career.
Our final player in the Top 10 market is Joaquin Niemann. He went awfully close last week at the RBC Heritage and it was only a bogey on 17 that put him out of contention.
He’s a young player that deserves success and the $4.50 for a top 10 finish is well worth locking in.
