Race 2. (19:13) Shootout November 18 (515m)
#6 – Cloud Scootin’
Cloud Scootin’ owns four wins from 11 starts overall, including a win last time out.
The two-year-old son of Fernando Bale does need early luck from the trap, but he has the pace to clear and find the front.
Rising in distance isn’t a worry.
Race 5. (20:19) Sportsbet Melbourne Cup Prelude 8 (515m)
#7 – Fred Rose @ $3.90
Fred Rose is a professional 17-time winner from 57 starts, and we’re happy to include him in our picks.
The two-year-old owns four wins and nine placings from 17 starts overall, and his best time of 29.45 is low flying.
We’re not surprised by the money coming for him.
Race 6. (20:40) Sportsbet Melbourne Cup Prelude 9 (515m)
#2 – Fast Minardi @ $4.50
Fast Minardi is a 24-time winner, and we thought his odds would be shorter with bookmakers.
The two-year-old has 24 wins and 14 placings from 40 starts, so he’s a dynamic greyhound, and he comes off five consecutive wins.
The Tasmanian has yet to see this track, but we won’t hold that against him.
Race 7. (20:58) Sportsbet Melbourne Cup Prelude 10 (515m)
#1 – Umberto @ $2.60
We love backing Umberto, and although he has yet punters down at his last three starts, he’s worth sticking with.
The son of Bernardo has yet to finish worse than third from four starts at the track and distance, so that bodes well.
His best time of 29.28 stands alone in this field.

Race 2. (19:22) Sky Racing Maiden Stakes (530m)
#5 – Riot Rooster
Riot Rooster ran second on debut over 342m, and it looked like he wanted more ground.
The one-year-old got back in the field and hit the line with purpose, so if he gets early luck from the trap, he should finish off stylishly.
Put him on top in an even field.
Race 5. (20:22) The Dogcast Stakes (595m)
#1 – Fantastic Dixie
Fantastic Dixie doesn’t know how to run a bad race after posting three wins and three placings from her last six starts.
The 12-time winner has four wins at the track and distance, and she is showing no signs of slowing down.
Getting the inside trap adds to her appeal.
Race 7. (21:04) Thedogsa Mixed Stakes (530m)
#8 – Where’s Poppy
Where’s Poppy owns 10 wins from 14 starts, and she has yet to finish worse than third.
The two-year-old has been in blistering form, and eight of her wins have come at the track and distance.
Her best time is good enough to put this field away.
Race 8. (21:25) Greyhounds as Pets Mixed Stakes (530m)
#1 – Buzz the Hustler
Buzz the Hustler seeks four consecutive wins, and he looks like a nice type in the making.
The one-year-old son of Fabregas is a six-time winner at the track and distance, and he could lead throughout from the inside trap.
Look for odds around $2.40 on race night.
