Ipswich Greyhound Racing Tips
Race 1. 5.12PM TAB Venue Mode Maiden – 520 metres
#3 She’s Precocious – $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Recently came through the tough Eric Thomson Memorial Maiden Series, was excellent in her heat but luckless in the final before backing that run up with a smart 30.37 effort.
Trainer Brent Kline said he’s only just scraping the surface with the bitch who was showing him something new with every run.
This is a big class drop coming from a city maiden to Ipswich on a Saturday night, has shown good early speed in her races and should challenge for the front early which is where she wants to be first time track and trip.
Race 2. 5.32PM Sky Racing Novice – 520 metres
#7 Days of Thunder – $5 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Comes in with plenty of confidence after a very professional maiden win at track and trip last start where she was only fairly away but showed good muster to the first corner to take over and dictate the rest of the race.
Had box one on that occasion and has to handle the seven here, but she’s twice been placed out of box six and her early section stacks up with some of the faster dogs here.
Natural improvement should see her trim a couple of tenths off that time to make her very hard to beat.
Race 3. 5.52PM www.ispwichgreyhounds.com.au Restricted Win – 630 metres
#2 Sienna Voletta – $3.50 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Has really turned the corner her las three starts, after winning her Novice over the five hundred connections got her straight up to the six hundred where she ran a cracking race behind the talented Mere Magic on Monday at Albion Park.
That bitch was just a bit too quick for her, but she stayed on well and should relish the 630 metres going forward and sitting on the speed from a good draw in box two.
Race 4. 6.10PM Dover @ Sons Best 8 – 431 metres
#3 Orchestrate – $2.40 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Was a massive run to get up and win here last week, was crowded for room early from this same draw and looked in all sorts of trouble before somehow pushing his way into second down the back.
A Group winner over the five hundred he kicked into gear and ran down Borneo Bandit right on the wire in 24.97.
He’s now three from three track and trip with a personal best of 24.8, which could go under if he jumps this week.
Race 5. 6.25PM Garrard’s Horse and Hound Grade 5 – 520 metres
#8 Brindle Hornet – $7.30 – Bet @ Sportsbet
Don’t panic if you see this dog out the back early it’s the way he races, his two wins have to be seen to be believed coming from no-where to score and he is capable of doing something similar here.
Will be left to his own devices out in box eight and likely drop in behind the field and find the rail when he’ll start to get to work.
The tough 520 at Ipswich is right up his sleeve the more track the better, he’ll be charging home late.
Race 6. 6.49PM www.ipswichgreyhounds.com.au Grade 5 – 520 metres
#3 Bold Hornet – Bet @ Sportsbet
Litter mates look a real chance of a race to race double here, Bold Hornet is coming off excellent Ipswich Young Guns form running a huge race from box eight in the heats and having no luck in the final.
Similar to Brindle Hornet he’ll rely somewhat on luck, but isn’t as slow away as his brother and should be much closer to the front from box three, the drop in class should be telling here.
Race 7. 7.06PM GJ Walsh and co Mixed 4/5 – 520 metres
#1 Magic Prince – Bet @ Sportsbet
It’s all set up for a rare treble for Ray and Mary Burman’s Magic Hornet litter.
This dog came through the Young Guns series as well winning his heat in sharp time and like his brother didn’t get a look in come finals time.
Crucially draws the one here where he can take his time early before unleashing a finishing burst which has seen him clean up at Grafton recently.
Race 8. 7.25PM www.ipswichgreyhounds.com Grade 5 Final – 520 metres
#8 Slipknot – Bet @ Sportsbet
After struggling for consistent results throughout his career has found his calling here over the five hundred metres at Ipswich where he’s a three time winner and racing in great form.
Has just missed out in recent starts rattling home late and looks poised to knock a race over soon and with a good run across from box eight could be the dog on the scene at the right time to pinch this final at a good price.
Race 9. 7.46PM TAB Grade 4 – 431 metres
#3 Stay Warm Zac – Bet @ Sportsbet
Seasoned Ipswich campaigner who’s capable over the four and five hundred metre distances, which will be key to his winning chances here.
Blazing Apollo drawn in the two is a track and trip specialist and should be out quick, if Stay Warm Zac can track that move he has the run home to come over the top of the leader.
Race 10. 8.01PM www.ipswichgreyhounds.com Grade 5 – 431 metres
#5 Walloon Babe – Bet @ Sportsbet
Was beaten in the shadows of the post by a smart one last time out when she put good time on the board which she’s been doing consistently of late.
Is all about early speed and can overcome the squeeze box for in form trainer Merv Page.
